Default Help with House

Hello

I live in a new-ish house (about 7 years old) and recently I have discovered what looks like mould in one of the corners of the lounge. I say 'looks like' as there is nothing actually on the surface, it appears to be from within (a discolouration of the surface that doesn't scratch or wipe off).

Any ideas as to what I do about this? Is it dangerous / going to spread?

Thanks for any help,

Steve

What is on the outside wall a loose gutter perhaps,
have you put decking above the damp course height?

That looks like black mould. What's the heating in the room? Is the wall behind a chest etc?

What TYPE of heating do you have?

Definitely a damp wall, either porous brickwork / motar joints on the outside or something attached above the damp proof course.
As Jacko's mate says, check your gutters and down pipes aren't pissing the rainwater down the wall, as this will cause it.

Thank you for your replies.

The house is gas centrally heated, radiators in the lounge. The area isn't covered, it has a table. There are no leaking gutters, although the outside appears damp, and I just noticed a hair-like growth on the mortar on the wall outside.

Pictures below and I'm actually worried now, so any more advice would be great.

Thanks,

Steve

It looks like mould, and the outside picture seems to show your soil above your DPC which is not visible

Can just as easily be caused by inadequate ventilation of the room.

It does look inline with the gatepost from the pics and as paul says, where is your DPC? Ive got a new build and the numptie builders put soil right upto the level. It needs to be 2 bricks lower from what i was told.
