Talking MFI Kitchen / Howdens version- Kelmscott Oak range?

Hi all - looking at a new kitchen for the extension and we realy like the MFI Kelmscott oak/white range and a friend offered to get it from Howdens - but we are not sure they do the same one - i think its called Haworth or Tewksbury range ?

Any esle have any experince of this ??? Or know where their are simular trade places - the MFI version worked out at about £13K inc appliances - i guess it would be about £8K from Howdens ????????????????

Cheers any suggestions appreciated !!

13k sounds costly for mfi. Are you having expensive appliances and worktops? Howdens is pretty good stuff and good value for money

A neighbour of ours got theirs from Howdens as opposed to the same in MFI and it was cheaper but don't know by how much. They're also in the trade and probably got a discount too. Can you go with your friend to check it's what you want?
£13k is a lot of money - is it all solid wood or laminated doors etc? My parents' large oak kitchen cost nowhere near that amount and it was all solid wood, custom made.

We got MFI to price match howdens, worth trying?

Also, agree that sounds v pricey. Howdens generally offer up to 65% discount off their price lists to trade, so you should be able to get it pretty cheap from them then argue with MFI to price match (remove any electrical items / ovens / hobs etc from quote - just carcase / worktop and doors etc)

Argue hard and you should get it

Do a search in NSR for "my house extension project". My kitchen + utility area including appliances was £7k in the never-ending MFI sale 18 months ago. Not the same range as yours but use this as a guide...
You must have one hell of a large kitchen!

The company I work for refitted a room for a client a few years to look like a kitchen and used the Howdens Tewkesbury oak units with dark, polished worktops. It looked stunning.

Howdens no longer supply MFI so make sure you're comparing like for like.

I got my kitchen from howdens. My mate has his own joinery company so i got it for what it cost him but the price list he gets to show the customer has a different set of prices. The quality of the units and doors is fine.

No, it is not. The two companies separated last year although Howdens continued to manufacture MFI products until around November when sourcing was switched to the Far East.

Another vote for Howdens , good quality gear that most of the trade uses , the carcasses come all built ,saving time and money.

A bit of digging:

MFI Furniture Group PLC approved the sale of MFI Retail to a private equity-backed management team in Oct 06.

MFI Furniture Group PLC renamed into Galiform Plc which continues with Howdens as its main brand.

So they were, but are not now, linked.

Trade discount at Howdens is usually 60-75% depending on the items. Our kitchen fully specced up was like £8k but we only paid about £2.something for it.

I got a couple of worktops from Howdens last year through a company I worked for and got something like 60% discount. They weren't anything mega special. I found the same worktops in Focus for quite a bit cheaper and that was at retail price

I have dealt with howdens a lot, have at least 3/4 kitchens a year off them. The above is a good point. For the carcasses, doors & furniture they can't be touched on price v quality. However I have found that sinks/taps/worktops/appliances can be sourced much cheaper at places such as focs, wickes, screwfix etc. For some reason whenever I look at our quotes they are quite expensive with these items.

Wickes especially have sinks quite often in the sale or reduced to silly prices.
