Maybe it's for any motorcyclist pulling away from that parking bay. Still would have been riding for a bit before getting to it though...

good point, but I am sure the big mean car coming the other way might have given them a reminder...this is central London so anything goes.

Just found it on Google Earth!
'tis on Percy Street at 51 degrees 31' 06.55" N and 0 degrees 07' 59.43" W
Looks like it used to be a two-way street, but they blocked it off at the TCR end.

The restriction starts at the sign.
We've had a couple of this kind of oddity installed to enable delivery vehicles to reverse into a one way street.

I don't think so, from memory it's so that bikes can get into the parking bay without having to ride around the block to get down the one way street.

I hate that
If I want to swing by the office, I have to go all the way up to nearly warren street to come back down again. Unlike most of the cyclists in london that just ignore one way streets
