Default Who ever said Puppies Chew things ??

We only moved August last year and decided to decorate the living room and up stairs first as we have the lovely GSD puppy !!

Good call I'd say... although the current styling of my Kitchen and hall are a bit ... well ****.. I'm glad I didn't spend the money !!

We bought new couches for our living rooms and decided for now to put the old one... (think it was like 3rd hand) in the back room whilst we decided what would be best to do with it... basically how do you bin a couch ?

Anyway ... here's the result of Tara being left in the back room for a few hours and the hall !!

Get a cage. You can get them big enough for her to stretch her legs & they fold down when not in use.

feeding ?? I've tried beating, kicking, screaming, punching, laughing, crying, singing and frying !! But Feeding... thats thinking outside the box !!

We didn't bother with a cage as she was never alone for more an 15 -20 minutes really as a little pup, my work shifts change out of my control and now she gets maybe 2 hours a lone a day ... I think she might be too old for a cage now ????

And I thought one of our cats was a superb interior re-designer - Tara beats her paws down
A friend's border collie pup went through a similar phase where he'd have everything, even if nailed down but he has grown out of it and is doing really well now - didn't touch the Christmas tree at all. Have you tried dog training classes yet?

We have a Jack Russel pup at the moment, looking after her for a week, am in no doubt that the little get would destroy the house if let to her own devices, she is getting tough love when it comes to toilet training as well, was playing with her and she just squatted and had a slash despite having just had one, she got a p1ssy nose for her trouble, dogs need to know who the boss is.

the big issue is stopping it once the dogs got a tast for the furniture, As said if you're going to leave her get a cage while you have a house. Then get plenty of toys to chew, smoked bones, pigs ears and I find flower pots seem to keep mine occupied for hours.

as for the toilet training above just make sure you kick the pup outside regularly and immediately after feeding and they get the hang of it pretty quick

crate training is pretty important especially if they are getting left alone. damage caused by tuvaaq has been very minimal. the outside run and kennel help.

We have a Jack puppy and he is in a cage wouldnt leave him to run around when we are out. He sleeps in it at night, he makes funny sounds for a couple of mins but he knows we are NOT going to let him out and settles down till the morning.

As for the chewing he is getting out of it slowly (lol). he has just lost a load of teeth and needed lots of chew toys to help him, we have a few place that he has attacked.

Not only dies he like flower pot but the lids from Airwick Freshmatic are great (wash them out first) I could watch him for hours.

Most dogs will be fine with a cage - stick a comfy blanket in it and they have it as their own little den, and consider it their territory in the house.

I notice from your pics that your dog is doing exactly the same innocent 'what ? it wasnt me' look ours does when we catch her chewing stuff.

She was really into rope toys when she was younger, but we have to take those off her now as she chews through them completely, then eats all the loose bits - you end up seeing coloured streaks in her poo for days afterwards.

One of her favourite things to chew is plastic plumbing fittings ( the sort you use for bath and shower drains ) as well as a big yellow plastic storage box that she goes nuts with.

Shes pretty much grown out of chewing the furniture now we've trained her out of it, although sometimes the coffee table accidentally ends up in her mouth.

Puppy trainers say its a phase.. most dog go through it, shes just a bit bigger than most dogs ....

I had to kill the couch today .. so now she has an old table to eat ! makes the room look bigger !!

She kept stealing the pieces of couch as I cut them up !!

She was chasing a bee in the park today, I think it knew and kept low to tease her ! Hours of fun with a bee

ours was rubber/plastic cable, he hate 4 mobile phone chargers, my clippers for my hair, basicly bloody anything he could find, and the little git used to chew them right at the end so you couldnt repair the wire lol

one day we came home switched oven to cook and it blew the fuses lol, git had been under there too (board under cupboard was loose), i laugh but if it was switched on at the wall he would of been dead
