Dovecotes - anyone have one in their garden?
Do Doves/Pidgeons use it for nesting or has it been ignored and a waste of money?
Thinking of getting one for the garden as the Collared Doves that are in the garden have pretty much camped in our garden since I started feeding them when we moved here.
I put a bird box up last weekend thinking it wouldn't be used until next winter/spring and it took 3 days before a pair of blue **** claimed it for their home.
Now wondering if a Dovecote would get inhabited as quick bearing in mind the Doves have tamed to me and sit on the fence or in the garden only a few feet from me when I go out to feed them.
Also I assume a Dovecote is a safer place for them to nest rather than trees/bushes when there is a Sparrow Hawk about even though its more obvious for the Sparrow Hawk to see them?

Actually, SJSkyline's post is not far from the truth.
I have a couple of bird feeders, and had started to put some stuff down to attract the local doves and wood pigeons.
I've had to change it's position though, as a sparrowhawk kept flying around the house and picking them off
