no i dont have sky yet.. was browsing ebay for a box yesterday and could get a new HD box for less than 200 quid... sky charge near on 250. i want to buy my own box cheaper than what sky do, and then join sky, just paying for the channels, rather than installation and setup.

only thing i need then is a dish, which i could get from somewhere!

how much can u get a HD box for fraser?

I got Sky+ for £49. Fitting was free.

Just rang up and said I was thinking of getting Sky, but didn't want to pay the prices quoted on the interweb. Had to subscribe to either the sports or movie package to get that price.

Sure any sky installers if you know any may just be able to source you a sky+ box along with any off the other additional extras required, I know ebay has loads off sky+ extras required to allow you to add sky+ to your standard installation.

Know someone in a similar sitation looking for a new sky + box if anyone here has any contacts to get them cheaper than sky themselves ??

already have sk+ myself and for the recording facility itself and its ease off use I must admit the monthly fee is well worth it.
