So what do you think? I thought it was very much Life on Mars but in the 80's. At least they've picked some decent music but I was doubting the inclusion of the Stranglers "No More Heros" at the end of the show -- surely that was in the 70's? No matter...I thought it was just as good as LOM but DCI Gene Hunt has suffered a loss in quantity of one-liners. I'll definitely be watching the series, that's for sure.

It wasn't a patch on LOM.
Dull, over acted and the plot was pretty cack.
Miss Hawes hammed it up and spoiled it. She's not likeable, so makes it hard to care.
2/10 - must do better, see me.

agreed, sam tyler firing off against Hunt made the first series, the only reason the posh tart is in the second is to make it more sellable to US audiences.
I mean, can you really see hunt planting her one like he did with sam?
Not going to happen

I think that's a good observation. For the first show in the series there was too much analysis but I imagine that as this is the first of 8 shows we'll get to knickin' the robbers sometime soon. Wasn't the first LOM episode like that too? It's almost like they want to have the two series, whilst extremely similar, be able to stand on their own. I had a lot of deja vu with this first show...but I still liked what I saw.

All I can say, what an odd episode!
Mixed up, not much of a plot. Hammed up acting. It had me wondering if it was intentional or not (as in 80's OTT ).
Obviously it had a lot to live up to in comparison to LOM.
I holding out for the next epsiode - still somthing worth watching

Preferred the 70's and the total absence of political correctness and lads being lads.
It's watered the DCI down.
Girls, you gotta love 'em but they should be at home doing the ironing

I'd have preferred just another series in the old style with Sam. Perhaps they could have changed some of Hunt's moronic team and brought in some other thugs/characters.
Spent half of last night trying to work out what was going on and not knowing if Sam was going to turn up. Plus I missed the one-line put downs "OK, let's ask Mrs Woman"
3 out of 10. dl

Well I liked it. I'm not going to compare it to LOM because its not fair to compare it to something that never came before. LOM was a fresh original idea. We all know what to expect from ATA.
Fire up the Quattro is the saying of the year!!!
Funny how the wimmen love Gene. My wife and my mother both think he's great!

May the stocking shots continue.........
LOM had the odd dodgy episode, give it time, wasn't brilliant but this episode had to set the story line. I'm sure it will get better.

Very poor imo, Im a huge LOM fan but it just seems desperation now, clinging onto what was a very original idea. I'll persevere but ep.1 was not good!

If anything there was still legs in the original plot IMHO, would have been much better than this dross..!
Gave it 25mins of her lard-di-da overacting and binned it for a bowl of cornflakes.

As some of you have said, wasn't as good as LOM, but I enjoyed it very muchly
I love the 80's music and that Audi Quattro is gorgeous - watch the value of them go up now........
Looking forward to next weeks.

Really
I never saw one All I noticed was that whiny assed ham Keeley Hawes
I thought she was sh!te in Spooks, she's fecking worse in this:
Never mind, though, I'm going to give it a few weeks to convince me, and the DCI is still a class act
Though I doubt in real life he'd have brought the idiot Chris down from Manchester with him

I thought i wasn't quite as good as LOM but still good.
The bits were she tried to figure out why she was there sort of took away from the story a wee bit but towards the end she just seems to be accepting that she was there and stop trying to get back to now.
The DCI seems a bit softer towards her probably because she is a "bird", he even poured her a glass of wine towards the end of the show.
The rest of the show seems to be pretty good and will build up as the series continue's, I hope and hopefully with more of the DCI's one-liners.
I must check the newsgroups later to see if there are any stills from the show

Preferred it to Life on Mars mainly because I could identify with the era. 'Bollinger Knickers' and 'Fire up the Quattro' will be entering the Oxford English Dictionary before year end.
