Question Any Darts Players Here?

I'm in a Darts Tornament Wednesday Night.

I last played 26 years ago and when I dug my old Darts out I found the flights had seen better days!

Well went into town to buy some spare parts ...... realising that time has left me stranded I bought a Maestro Darts Tune Up Kit.

Has new shafts and new flights and other stuff I've never seen before.

Like Flight Protectors - not sure how to use these?

Ozone Shaft Locking Rings - what do these do?

SlikStik Shafts, they have a slot in them - how do the flights fit?

It was so simple a few decades ago - the new thing was Titanium Darts which I invested in, following a few games I had in Henley-On-Thames against the great John Lowe ...... I beat him a couple of times too!!

I play or practice when i can but no longer have a dart board at home since i've decorated the bedroom and missus won't let me put up another

Ozone locking rings are rubber washers that stop the shafts unwinding

Slikstik shafts are a bit crap but are durable and make the flights last longer as they protect both ends(like a flight protector), the flight just slides through it

Flight Protectors just fit on the end of the flight to stop you splitting the flights with other darts, again not really needed but used to prolong flight life

Cheers Scott, makes a bit more sense now ...... the SlikStik Shafts - how do the flights (which have 4 wings on) fit into them? They only have a single slot?

I see, I suppose they work?

I'm just used to sliding the flight into a 4-slot on the end of the shaft ............

I've also been told that it will be 'Double to Start'!!!

GREAT!

Missing doubles was why I never won the Embassy World Darts Championship at Nottingham in 1978!

make sure you take the right glasses or you won't even see the board.

I like to look at darts as the Englishman's martial art, those three arrows can be mighty weapons in self defence, coupled with the fact that the Dojo is the boozer.

When I played many decades ago I didn't even wear glasses, now I use the bottom of two bottles taped together with plaster tape.

I share your pain - Not being able to run the 100 Metres in 9.77 seconds is why I never won the gold medal at the olympics

For me, not being able to kick the ball in the direction of the goal stopped me making striker in the England football team. Things were looking up and I was about to probably win the main world golf competitions, I would have but not being able to make the ball go down the hole impeded my progress.

I don't think that would stop you being selected these days though......
