Take a look at this:

Navizon - Virtual GPS for mobile devices and laptop computers

Navizon is an app that picks up cellular masts and WiFi points. It associates a GPS lat/long co-ord with the accesspoints or masts when it finds them. It stores all of this into a file and when you get home you can upload it to the Navizon server.

The best part of it is for those with GPS devices built in/smartphones/pdas/phones with a gps receiver etc you genuinely can make money from it by downloading it from Navizon - Peer-to-Peer Wireless Positioning

Everyone else can run it on Nokias, iphones you name it.......


Then run it, upload your data and collect points - Ive just completed 10,000 in about a week or so, which = $20, no joke its been paid into my paypal account already! There are people making hundreds - I guess truck drivers, reps, taxi drivers etc

In summary, you get 20$ for each 10,000 points you make. I traveled 56 miles today and when I got home I had done 4,800 points. Each mast is worth about 15 points and accesspoints worth about 3. I even walked around a city centre at lunch and picked a load up

Isn't that what Google uses? Google Maps is scarily accurate in London.

im sure it defo doesnt do phone positioning on google earth...
