Default Buying a fire surround off ebay, pro's and cons.?

Hi,
I'm looking for a nice fire surround for the living room and notice they go fairly cheaply on ebay.

Solid Marble Fireplace, Mantle Piece and Hearth. on eBay, also Mantelpieces, Fireplaces Mantelpieces, Living Room Furniture, Home Garden (end time 09-Mar-08 17:36:12 GMT)

Is there any reason, whats the pro's and cons.

thanks
Paul.

I would imagine its easier to sell on fleabay and a buyer to collect than them to cart it down to the local tip

Oh I dont know then in that case

I would assume thats why they go so cheap then as well, due to being a fixed size and have to match your fire etc

Bought an oak fire surround last year through ebay. Very pleased with it and it sits nicely in our lounge now. Be careful with measurements. Look out for the rebate. That's the depth required for the marble if you are having marble as a backing and hearth.
I just bought the wood surround because we already had the marble. There are several measurements you need to check. Fire Surrounds by Pinestuff

That website should help.
Cheers Yve

I bought a pine surround from Graham at Pinestuff just before Xmas, very pleased with the price and the service.

It was a bespoke design as we have a really wide fireplace so the surround needed to be 180cm wide. I just did some drawings and sent them over to Graham with the measurements and he did the rest.

It was spot on when it arrived and all measurements were perfect so we awere well happy, just need to get round to staining it now as its been fitted for months

Cost us £99 all in as delivery was a lot due to the width of it (over 1500mm).
