we usually hire cars so not sure about scooters but I would assume yes
most places we went to and ate we great don't recall having a bad meal ewven in the hotel on half board
As far as things to do we enjoy driving round looking at the scenery etc but if you goto palma nova {iirc} there is a crazy golf course there which is resonable fun and pretty simple to play, I have heard about the water park but do not usually go to them {me and water don't mix}.
I am sure whatever you do it will be fun especially if the weather if good {which it usually is} just watch out for the mozzies as they seem to be more there than anywhere else {some people attract them we however are the ones who dont }
I think some simple google searchs will bring up all you need to know about th eisland

Lots of canals......I remember.
We went 2006, 2 weeks, me, mrs, 13year old and 2year old.
Was very hot, food out was good, plenty to do, plenty of bars too.
Beach was good for kids, water didnt go deep until you reached Africa.
Saw a horse snuff it though pi55ed my neice off big time, they use them as taxis dragging carriages through the mid day sun, they sweat like mad.
All the hotels have entertainment on and you can pick and choose whichever you want to visit.

lovely place just for chilling, and then there is porto pollenze just down the road which has a good market, nice beach and boat trips etc. Just watch out for the africans selling coco
Lots of nice places to eat, we went to a resteraunt in the next area (about a 10 min walk down the road) and we had the best pizza ever (better than italy)
Only had one bad meal (well it was still tasty) however it was a microwave boil in the bag jobby, we know as we heard the microwave ping, about 2 secs before our food arrived (no one else in the place at the time!)
