How about a just sticking a sack of sh*t next to Brundle? The effect would be similar but far less annoying.
I often listen to the R5 broadcast and think Croft would be a good choice. I imagine the BBC might give Damon Hill a trial although I'm not sure how successful his previous attempts guest presenting were.

With the amount of BBC promotional material shown on there these days, I wouldn't be surprised if the release of the safety car is followed by "promotion" of the next big story in Eastenders, the discussion available on 5 Live and David Attenborough's new program about the sex life of goats.

oh man that's made my year (so far!!!)
Brundle should deffo stay, Allen needs to be dragged off behind the pace car and buried in a gravel trap!
I reckon the best commentating team would be Brundle and Coulthard

I must be the only one who think ITV have done a fantastic job for F1 coverage. What did we have before? Highlights somewhere in Grandstand. Live races, where programe started 5 minutes before the race starts.
ITV took F1 coverage to another level. I enjoy the 1 hour build-up. News, technical stories, interviews etc. Steve Ryder has done a great job since leaving the BBC to do F1 coverage. Bet he's feeling a little sick now.
I must be the only one who think James Allen does a good job. It's hard talking non-stop for a hour and a half. His technical knowledge is good. I think he does a good job anyway.
I just hope the BBC don't **** it up. Bet they do away with the Hour build-up before the race. Eastenders on BBC1, and they won't want to interrupt coverage of Golf, tennis, Moto GP, snooker. So what does that mean. Race now showed live. Highlights at 11pm. live races broadcast 5 minutes before the race start?
I hope I'm wrong, but I really think the BBC are going to **** it up.
I wonder if this is a swipe at ITV for the Brundle gate. Didn't they want him banned from F1 races because of his comment against the FIA?
The BBC won't have the guts to sign Brundle. Hill did a sh*te job when guesting for Brundle.
If the BBC's coverage is cr*p, I'll start watching ITV/F1 online.
As you can guess, I'd rather ITV kept the coverage.

a) No James Allen
b) No adverts
I hope this is the case, and the BBC would be silly to not emulate the ITV coverage as its been very successful.

ITV had the ad breaks, but that doesn't bother me as I usually record the race on the Topfield anyway so I can FF the ads, or I just go for a slash/make a brew when the ads are on.
Other than the ads the ITV coverage has been excellent, and I can see BBC F1 going all "online" and "i-F1" this that and the other where you will have to sign up to all sorts to be able to watch it.
I also dont mind James Allen, not really sure why people jump on him so much, he loves the sport and knows a great deal about it, not on a par with Brundle but his knowledge is OK.
And I agree, the 1 hour build up is superb and I would be surprised if the BBC keep that level of detail.
With some of the comments from ******** Ecclestone on that link, there is something going on in the background, with the hints at ITV taking on something else in the future, wonder what though?

Stop worrying, unlike ITV, the BBC don't know how to make a bad sports programme (although ITV have done well ith F1).
In general, ITV is absolute dross, so I am well pelease that F1 has gone to the BBC.
Just a shame that England internationals and the FA cup have gone to ITV.
The only time ITV ever goes on in my house if for Champions league, F1 and Harry hills TV burp.

I enjoy the 1 hour build-up
The only interesting bit is when Martin goes scouring the pits/paddock/grid to randomly collar some manager/driver, preferably catching them off guard.

The BBC's coverage of both F1 and World Rally has been shocking in the Past. You never knew when the Rally was on, as it would be burried somewhere in Grandstand. Same as F1.
ITV have done an exceptional job for F1. Many awards have reccognised this achievement. The only fly in the works was their coverage of the WRC.
Bet this also means ITV will bid like mad for the Premiership rights I couldn't stand another 5 years of listening to Andy Townsend talking sh*t.

I didn't, it's like alot of sports programs on ITV/BBC/SKY etc: Pure padding to try and stretch proghram out for as long as thy think possible. I watch the Race not the BS in between, this was the problem with James Allen: he couldn't make up enough BS that made sense or seemed plausible.
