Just a thought really on how much alcohol people drink, because of late i've considered myself to be drinking to much, i carn't remember the last weekend i've not got boozed up, and today i've bought a box of those 20 Stella bottles from tesco's and i've had to tell myself to stop drinking em because i could easily polish the lot off . Just a good job i've got no JD o love that

I can see this turning into a bit of a pissing contest (no pun intended).
I've really had to cut down, mainly because I'm 37 and need to grow up
There was a time I was concerned and sometimes I still am. I just do more phys to overcome the increasing belly.
I would say I've been drinking fairly heavily since I was 14. When I was officially old enough to get in the pubs, it would be around 6 - 7 pints a night apart from Saturday when it was 'mental' night and then only a couple on Sunday to recover.
The last 10 years or so have been pretty bad thinking about it. Since 1995 when I was working in Germany where beer was strong and stupid cheap, I'd get through a massive amount. If the beer was there, it was drunk, end of.
Recently though, 6 to 8 cans of Kronenbourg a night. Then I have a 'guilt' complex and cut right down then hit it hard again.
I'd hate to think what my insides are like. I doubt organ donors r us would take anything. Cut right back now though but saying that, I'm on my 10 can of carlsberg export now (started when the F1 was on). Steady drinking is one of my fortes.
Bottom line is, if you're worried, stop!
I have to take the odd six month break anyhow due to work.

Far too much. If I don't go out though, my mates think I'm up to something (or someone ).
I reckon last week must have seen 30+ pints sank. And a couple of bottles of wine.

I got ill once and the docs suspected accute pancreitis. I had to work out what I was drinking a week units wise. The doc went ape **** when I told him 105 units a week. Shocked me as well tbh.
Sometimes I think a lot of 'social drinking' is down to the job

In a way yes. I have resisted the urge to wake up and have a beer (unless on a weekend away at Blackpool on some stag weekend or what have you)
I can also leave it though as long as I'm busy. Like I say, I go away for quite a few months at a time where there is no beer and don't crave it.

I would drink 3 or sometimes 4 nights a week. Normal night 12 ish cans of normal lager. If it's a session or night out and steady then perhaps 16 - 18.
Probably too much I know but it never effects my work. No days off and never late forwork
PS I'm 46 and do a fairly phsyical job.

I know a few mates who've taken themselves off the beer for getting into bother. That's the reason I never drink shorts. Get's me a bit fired up. Beer just fills me up.
Like BooSH though, I'm in the forces and drinking is a bit of a must (I know it's not really but nobody likes to deny it).
The day I wake up craving a beer, I'll go to AA.

A few years ago a lad I got to know had a similar problem whilst in the army. He was a tank driver posted in Germany and because there was nothing to do he would invariably end up getting p!ssed every night, just through sheer boredom. He ended up leaving the army and started a full time job driving an artic. The combination of working full time and responsibility of driving helped him to completely curb his boozing. I think it's something you work your way out of slowly but surely.

One of my old colleagues would have about 8 pints of Stella before going onto rum and coke for the rest of the night. He'd be out every night of the week. Weekends were fatal - he'd be in the pub before 12 and not go home on the same day. I've seen him drink a full bottle of Jamesons whilst watching a Grand Prix and then going to the pub!

Ive just cut down naturally over the year's,not that im that old.But when i used to drink it was to get absolutley wrecked.Would never put the weight on because was always active going climbing and moutain bike weekends and stuff.now i just have the odd tipple of vodka some times neat or with orange.Always remember my first drink though, was 8 yrs old and i drank a 1 litre bottle of old english with my mates, then they left me lying drunk in one of the ww2 bomb shelters we used to play in,think i was that age to when i tried my first cigar and almost choked to death.

Physical job or not, your liver must be scared of your mouth.
If your job is physical then you must be totally dehydrated.
I thought I drank a lot.
Tend not to touch any booze during the week and have a 'few' at the weekend. Probably still over the guidline amount.
