Emergency, you only have 5 mins...
And maybe a small sports bag....
Just watching a TV program and its making me wonder what I would grab.
Imagine you are told you have to leave your house in 5 mins, and maybe never return. Everything left in the house will be a total loss.
WHAT would you take?
Being evacuated last year put me through a similar situation, so I know what I would and did grab. How about you?
Obviously animals and family members are already taken care of
Just thought it would be interesting to see what people value most, and feel they could not replace.

Passport, wallet, birth certificate, car keys (and car which I'd put the bag inside) and all of my insurance documents.
Wouldn't be bothered about anything else if it's a complete loss and the insurance company replaces it.

From my view, spot on mate.
Just curious to see if people have precious pictures, want PC hard drives, or other irreplacable stuff.

Luan, from memory I took the same laptop and external drive. Wallet, cards, book of tricks, passports and some other random stuff too lol.
Thankfully we had only just flown back to the UK from Florida so just topped the bag up

Laptop and backup external drive - the only thing that is irreplaceable really are my digi photos, videos and all my old scanned pics.. and i'd grab both my Grandad's Medals off the wall as i ran out the front door!

Wedding photo album, iPod, PSP, chargers for them , bottle of vintage Dom Perignon we have been saving for a special day, passport, keys, if it was a big enough bag my record and CD collection, 1200s, CDJ800s, mixer, Tamiya models (including the Focus one thats half finished), tomato and chilli seedlings, watering can and a bottle of Tomorite, phone, fave pair of Havaianas (the portugal ones), pack of three (just in case my lucks in), VMWare VI3.5 CDs (you never know, I bet no one else would and I would be the only person in the country with them), can of deodorant, hair gel. I think that would do.

A tin opener
I'd take photos- having had a house fire when I was a youngster, it's things like photos of memories which you cannot replace which I think you miss the most..

Coat, Tent, Boots, Primus stove, saucepan, thermos, as many tinned beans as I can grab, Land Rover, Jerry can, Shot gun, spare rounds, and Mobile phone, not to forget a swiss army knife.
Of course, I'm assuming an Apocolypse here
If its just the house on fire, maybe my hard disk (piccys, and yeah, some **** ). Warm clothes any handy cash, wallet and mobile phone...that'll be enough to get me to the nearest travellodge

Wouldn't the tinned beans slip though your fingers, and cause a slippage hazard? Surely tins of beans would be more advisable?

I've pretty much got everything in my regular day bag anyway - Mac, 2 x HDs, Ipod, phone. Car Keys & wallet are put to one side anyway
All photos are on HD. I'd take our OLD photos too.
Paperwork? umm, well, tbh most things are on record anyway. Bank details etc can get the various contact details.
Plus all monthly expenses are stored electronically (and backed up )
I think the big issue is that with 5 mins to "evacuate", and what you are going to, the question should be regarding what is REALLY important. You;ve said that family/pets etc are catered for.
If that's case, I wouldn't even waste time packing a bag!!! Memories/photos are that - aids to remind you of events. With your family safe, you can always make new ones.
