Smacks of 'Burn him at the stake!!!' mentality.
Can't personally see why sacking him from his job is going to benefit anyone but the people who sacked in that they have to show a tough line.
Hope the school suffers due to their whimsical over reaction.

He put someone in a wheelchair because he was driving like an idiot. That sort of behaviour doesn't fit the profile of a school head. If he worked for he'd be out on his ear if he didn't tender his resignation

I like the discrepancy between the 'up to' 120 mph and his claim that he was doing 60 mph I wander if the 120 was the maximum speed his car could have been doing at that place in the road. It might be a case of an old woman said 'he must have been doing 120 mph and that was all it took to get the right headline.

He still got off quite lightly relative to his victim -

I'm not one to nail ordinary decent motorists for genuine mistakes, but seems this guy was nailing it, really hurt someone and acts as a role model to kids. Feel for him, but probably sends out the right message. D

taken from the above story :
Later that lunchtime in May 2006, Cwmdare Primary School headmaster Davies ploughed his £38,500 Subaru Impreza into Mr Palmer’s Ford Fiesta.
Which Impreza cost £38,500 ???? Again, great writing my the journo's !!

You read that story without feeling any sympathy for the victim it seems. Is it because he wasn't in a Scooby? Sometimes I just don't get it.

I expect they used artistic licence to add a zero to the Impreza's price.

A headmaster of a school shouldn't be suprised or upset if he gets sent to jail and isn't welcome back at his job.
The details surrounding the reporting are probably dubious, but the fact he's been in jail (whilst working at the school) is obviously something that can't be overlooked. What sort of message would the kids get from that?

This guy was and always has been on a hiding to nothing over his actions, the press whooped it up with the reports of the speed he was doing
Wasnt his car stickered up too ? which caused the judge to make some stupid comments about cars with stickers on ?

He is now struck off as a teacher as well though so cannot teach anywhere in wales as I understood it and to me that seems harsh for a man driving at 60 driving ay 120 would be a different story.

Surely at 120 the consequences would/should have been far worse. Not taking anything away from the injuries received by the other bloke but it does seem to be easy to assume he was rallying his car due to the rally nature of it etc.
I believe the witness, an older lady, claimed that he WAS doing 120. Now that is some eyesight and brain capacity to work that out.
Judging by those sidies he must be a boy racer.

One article also says that 'witnesses' claimed the car was traveling at 120 and that the first court case was thrown out trough lack of evidence the media fuss clearly impacted the second court case.

Unless anybody goes through anything like this themselves, you will not know how hard it is to understand, personally I think the Impreza driver got off lightly, I myself was the victim of one such lunatic, I was hot head on at over 100mph and was so badly trapped the FB had to fight to free me whilst the paramedics battled to save me, It took the FB 3 hours to free me from the wreckage, wheather this guy was doing 60 mph or 120 mph to me is not the question, he is ovesily not cabable of driving safe at any speed, and therefore should not be on our roads, the victim Mr Palmer will have too endue years of pain just like I still do because some prat could'nt keep his speed down in very wet weather conditions, thus causing this man terrible injuries and life long pain, In my eyes he should never drive again.
Cheers

Seems a bit odd to me that he had a head on collison where he was doing 120 and he had no injuries! How fast was the other car travelling??
More likely the impact speed was 120 as both vehicles were traveling at 60.
But as already said we are not in possesion of the full facts.

Speed and car irrelevant.
The guy was driving like an **** and put someone in a wheel chair. Went to prison (justifiably) for his actions.
The prison sentence in its own should have resulted in his firing as a primary school head. No place for convicted criminals (for any reason) in the School system.

Its not as if he went to court Monday, got banned, sacked Tuesday is it?
The guy has been in jail for what he did. Perhaps his replacement whilst he was doing his time has done a better job?
To say his sacking was purely down to his conviction is probably off the mark.
To say the bloke was a nobber, bad at his job and this conviction is at last a way to get rid of him is probably off the mark too

That's probably the amount spent on stickers and other tasteful accessories from Halfords.

Since we were not there, it is difficult for us to describe the circumstances leading to the crash and just how fast he was going.
If he was really going that fast on a public road then as far as I am concerned, he deserves all he gets. We can't forget the victim who is in a wheelchair because of someone else's behaviour on the road. Whatever his speed, it must have been his fault anyway and an innocent person is suffering for that.
That sort of behaviour on the public roads is totally selfish and there is a case for saying he is not fit to hold a job as a headmaster.
