Can't sell my car, frustrating
Hello
I'm been advertising my car for the last few weeks and can't seem to shift it. I was originally asking too much money assuming that people would negotiate, but didn't really get any takers at all.
If I hear one more DataCar, CarSeller or anyone starts talking to me on the phone who sounds as though they are in a call center I'm going to "go postal".
I konw there was a thread on here about this a while ago, so perhaps 'specialist' cars just arn't selling well.
Rant over.

Put it on Ebay with a very good description. Those who moan that cars don't sell for much on Ebay generally have a very poor listing or have ridiculous reserves/buyitnow prices. I've bought and sold many cars on Ebay.
If you had advertised your car well over the odds then people who would have been interested at a lower price would simply disregard your car as too expensive.

Your does look expensive for what is in effect a not very desirable car.

With the internet there is so much choice, people can find a cheap version of most cars without too much effort. So unless yours is particularly different to anyone else, i would consider looking at what everyone else has their cars priced at and start there.
My advice, take some great pics (they really help), price is to sell, good description and advertise it anywhere and everywhere.
Have you tried pistonheads?
PS. What car is it? I'd happily look at your ad and give my opnion.

You're right, really. Im hoping to get someone who doesn't want a Turbo model. I reckon with the right ad on ebay it could go for £2k.

every car will sell, if you have advertised it and its not sold its only down to one thing.....
Price, Price, Price
I dont know much about Supras, but for a 10 year old performance car with those sort of miles surely its not worth nearly £10K
How much were they new?

On average, Supras seem to go for £10K+ when you can sell them. I have high miles although probably no-one believes the 'motorway' bit unfortunately. I should post a picture and show them I'm too old to stress the engine anymore

When I was selling mine last summer it was a nightmare.
Bought for 7k which was market value. Gave it a C service and new tyres all round. And was offered 5400 for PX. Put it up for 6k, and no takers. Just people assuming something was wrong with it, or offering me £5k !
Can be a nightmare, just hold tight

Took me 10 months to sell my B7 RS4. Plenty of chancers had a go, but just pitch it at a decent saving over a dealer - and I mean at least a grand - and hang tight. I looked at 12 RS4's over 6 months before getting my minter and felt that had to count for something when selling it too. I worried too, but dug my heels in (crap car mind )

A 10 year old car that drinks petrol ...... £6k if you're lucky!
I have a 2002 Galaxy auto V6 that i was going to sell when my new car arroves (should be worth £9k ish) but you cant shift anything that does under 20mpg nowadays unless its someone who can afford more than £10k in the first place.

LOL - thats why I paid £1500 for a Jeep Cherokee 4.0. 1999 on 66K. Granted they are considered "a bit of dog" in the trade but its quite a bargain.
Funny thing is folk saying its a write off everytime it runs out of fuel
If its a good straight car it will go but its a niche market made even harder with fuel issues - least its not clobbered for road tax.
Looking forward to picking up a cheap classic

Get yourself a football ref whistle - when they start on their spiel just blow like hell for as long as you can. Never known them call back!

Makes me laugh when people can't work out why there car isn't selling, hardly takes a genius to work it out.
Your car is worth what people are willing to pay, if it isn't selling at your price then people aren't willing to pay that amount, hence it isn't worth that amount.
Stop being a tight **** moaning about your car not selling and either keep it if you think it's worth it (it isn't) or sell it for less.
Simple.

I've never had trouble selling cars in the past (I shifted an accident damaged/repaired 51 plate VW Bora for £6.5k only 6 months ago) but it's become abundantly clear that in the last 6 months the bottom has dropped out of the used car market unless it's a diesel/low tax bracket-mobile.
PCP or leasing only for me from now on. Pay monthly for the car, hand it back when you're finished with it, no hassle, no tyre kickers and no calls from CarData, although at the moment, even a call from those losers would be better than the deafening silence.

Thay are the ones acting like ***** when you have to waste your ad-space to explicitly put NO CANVASSERS in the ad, yet you still get 3 'is the Audi still for sale mate' calls a day. It's no wonder people get well irate and these guys end up auditioning for The Apprentice!

It constantly amazes me when people trying to sell their car well overprice it. Buy the car cheap in the first place and then sell it on cheap. With the last dozen or so cars I've bought and sold I've broke even and a good few years worth of driving has cost nothing (fuel not included) except for the odd tax disc or so.
Will be getting a Picasso next as the family runaround. I'm not having a go at the blokes on here selling as I don't know what their cars are worth, but generally if the car isn't shifting you either live in Shetlland, it's a dog or it's priced too high. I await my next Glass's guide tomorrow to see how much 'gaz guzzlers' have dropped.

To Be Honest, The Fact That The Entire Description On Rightmove Is Initial Letter Capitalised (Like This Post) Is More Than Enough To Stop Me Even Reading The Listing Let Alone Look At The Pictures Or Come And View.
