Perhap's they are worried about being watched. They maybe don't like it when the boot might be on the other foot!

It's a sad indictment on current aviation warfare that a modern fighter jet has to loose off an (expensive) air-to-air missile to bring down a plodding UAV! Well done brave comrade fighter ace Vladimir! Paint that on the side of your cockpit, why don't you! In the good old days towards the end of WW2, the RAF use to try and tip the **** Doodlebugs out of the sky using the wing-tips of their high-powered Spitfires and Tempests etc. Even a close high speed MiG29 flypast would probably have shaken the UAV to bits. I bet that's what a real Top Gun would do!

Why risk an even more expensive platform?

Well what about a quick squeeze of the 30mm cannon then? A UAV is probably the only airborne adversary he'd ever get to hit with it!

To be honest, I suspect the Mig shouldn't have been there in the first place.

But, seeing as UAVs can be armed, would you risk getting a $27m plane shot out from underneath you by one? If you were lucky you would end up flying a desk.

Where was the UAV, as I don't see any reference to that?

They must have been tracking the fighter accurately, as the UAV knows exactly where to steer the camera to. Surprisingly good footage imo.
