We have a St Georges Day competition at the golf club this week, this is the only mixed comp we do.
The men take the place of St George, and the women the Dragon.
Happy St Georges Day.

Make sure you fly your flag as proudly as the Irish, the Scots and we Welsh are allowed to. Its a national flag and should be respected.
Believe it or not the hospital canteen where I work is plastered in St Georges Flags and Union Flags today. It looks unusual as I am in Wales. But having said that there are loads of English here.
I love patriotism. Call me what you like. BRITAIN FOREVER!

does anyone else see this recent popularity of st georges day as a desperate attempt to prove our patriotism?
dont get me wrong, im as patriotic as anyone...proud to serve Queen and country in HMF for 18 years now, but ive always felt the other members of the union like to ram their nationalism down our throats because in effect theyre all conquered nations who are just flagwaving...its almost like giving a cheeky kid a clip round the ear then him turning round and poking his tongue out at you when hes out of arms reach...
ive never considered england to have any need to do any flagwaving as our status as a country speaks for itself...
braces self for impact...!!!

Although there may be no need to wave the flag do so because other nations within the UK can.
Some are proud of Britain others are proud of their specific nation.
Agree that it seems like Wales, Scotland and Ireland ram the flag waving down people's throat but that's exactly my point. Do the same even if you don't need to.
Even though technically my national flag is the Red Dragon I can identify with any of our national flags.

I wonder if I go into Manchester tonight there will be loads of Irish in Ker-azy St George Costumes, painted red and white saying how English they are because their grans mates dog was from Wolverhamtpon ?
I always remember St Georges day as my Grandad George was born today, he has been gone for almost twenty years but its nice to remember him.
