Remember making Ribena Wine when i was younger, dont know what went wrong but it came out more like a blackcurrent spirit !! the hydometer used to just lay on the surface rather than happily bob about !!
Used to make a gallon at a time, exact ingredents cant be remembered, except ribena, sugar, yeast, water !!
Was bloody hansom down the park on a summers evening when a kid![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Googled and found this... Gran's Tresures: Ribena Wine

I remember being given a bottle of "Nettle Wine" by a bloke I built a pc for, I drank it, was truly horrid but was free and alcoholic so soldiered on, I ended up doubled up on the floor in massive pain, my stomach in spasm asking the (unimpressed) wife to call an ambulance, it subsided, I was delicate for days so no more home made wine for me.
It was either poisened
He hadnt washed the glass cleaner out
Or it still had Nettle stinginess, which is bad enough on the skin so go knows what it does to your stomach.
So, Wine should be made out of grapes and come from Thresher....

My father-in-law owned and ran a home brew wine and beer shop for many years. No-one has more experience than him regarding home-brew wine; he's regularly been making all different types of commercial home brew wine for nigh on 40 years.
Despite all that know-how it still takes ages to make and everytime it just tastes like dogp*ss!
My In-laws have to go out and buy proper wine in when I come round for dinner.
Don't do it! Or else you will soon notice that your friends stop coming round for a drink or bite to eat.

Try and get hold of a book called "First steps in winemaking",by CJJ Berry, see here:
Amazon.co.uk: First Steps in Winemaking: C.J.J. Berry: Books
It has lists of stuff you need, tips, and more, then LOADS of recipes by the month.
I've made Peach wine from tinned peaches........very nice.
I've also made blackberry wine, pomegranate wine, apricot wine, raspberry wine, meadowsweet wine, and, for a REAL treat, ROSE PETAL wine!
The latter was pale pink in the demijohn, almost clear in the bottle, clear in the glass, and smelled like a fresh rose.
And guess what, it tasted just like one too.........outstanding. Served cold, it was the most gluggable wine for a summer evening that I've EVER tasted.

Make your wine by whatever recipe then freeze it. Drink the part that remains liquid......You know it makes sense
