Blimey, there are few of you on there now nice one guys
It all kicks off from midnight tonight, so any running counts.
Anyone with Nike+ and considering joining in, do it ! Or as Nike say JUST DO IT Its only for fun but a bit of competition to keep everyone on their toes so to speak.
Im expecting to come last, so guys, please dont disappoint me haha.
Mamoon, Nike+ is a training system that logs your runs, and plots them on to charts so you can see good days and bad days, and weak points throughout your run.
Logging speed, distance and calories mainly. But the system is used online with the Nike+ community to hold online challenges (like this one) so you can run against each other without being in the same place. And compare your times and distances against people all around the world
Very good system, and just been changed a bit. Minimum you need is the Nike+ kit which is a transmitter and receiver, and either an iPod Nano or a Nike Sportsband. Oh and not forgetting Nike+ trainers, or a pouch for the transmitter.

Sounds expensive, what sort of price would i be lookeing at for the kit ? I do a bit of running every now and then, and this sounds like the incentive i need to do it more regularly.

Personally for the motivation if gives me, I dont think its expensive at all..
Options are...
Nike+ kit (transmitter/receiver) £17-20
Nike Sportsband £40
OR
an Ipod Nano instead of sports band
Nike+ trainers from about £60
OR
Obviously Ebay comes up with some better deals for some of this stuff.
Instead of the trainers you can get a sensor pouch for ANY running shoes, on Ebay for about £5
All in all, cheapest options with sportsband (if you dont have an iPod nano), the sensor kit and the sensor pouch, its about £65
Considering how the system can be used, I think thats superb value
My preference is the Nano, due to the voice feedback and progress reports.

Out of interest, there are currently some Nike+ trainers on Ebay for £20 or so. New in boxes. Various sizes.
And just a correction....
The sportsband kit comes WITH a sensor, so you can get started for £45
£40 for the sportsband and sensor and a fiver for the bit that attaches the sensor to your shoes.

lol bless ya mate. Maybe next weekend you can go running instead and drink lots of water along the way. Or run to the pub at least lol.
Just to summarise though (for the pissed amongst us )
Sportsband is stand alone and displays run data
iPod displays same data, on a slighty bigger screen, showing various things at the same time. As well as giving audio feedback, and the superb words of encouragement from people like Steve Redgrave lol... thats so cool
Both download via the PC and upload to the Nike+ website, storing all your run data, allowing you to compare, improve and gloat about your running
Having an easy to update data storage for all my runs has really helped me, and motivated me as I see more and more time being shaved off my run times.
Happy drinking, and happy Ebaying :P
