We're planning our summer holiday so we're looking for ideas. Basically, me, MrsREV and the REVlet (3.5) want a nice, chilled out holiday with plenty to do during the day, no hassle from time share touts or locals wanting to rip you off. Where do you reckon is good for young families?

That was Plan A. For some reason MrsREV has gone a bit cold on that one (no one knows why). I might put it back on the agenda.

I would go with Orlando too then.
I rent the place we stay in for £375 a week. Lush, and local to all the fun things.
Reckon you could do that easy on budget.

I am going to Cancun for the third summer in a row. Nice and clean, good service and quite cheap. The flights from Glasgow are good times and I don't have to mess about with transfers as I have a five year old. I was in Orlando in November it was just okay, not really my thing.

Mrs Rev Here
Not sure if Florida will be a bit of a waste of money with a 3.5 yrs old as i feel he maybe too you to enjoy alot of the places. What i mean is too small for the rides universal and the water parks etc

And the water parks, Typhoon lagoon and Blizzard Beach are just the same. Seaworld, take him to see Shamu, feed the dolphins, it goes on and on.
Have a look here for ideas and advice on taking kids that age:

If you've got kids you might be better off looking at somewhere closer to home. I took my little girl on a 12-hour flight to Singapore and it was a bit of a nightmare, so you don't really want to be on a plane for more than 3 hours IMO. Having said that the Euro exchange rate is dire at the moment so your money would go further in the US.

To be fair, REVlet has flown a fair bit (my parents live in Tenerife) and he's fine on a 4.5 hour flight (assuming you don't sit behind childless, child-hating couples which happened on our last flight - idiot accused REVlet of kicking his chair despite the fact his feet couldn't even reach the back of the seat!)

Ive heard that too about Disney that kids wont really appreciate it unless they are a bit older, Donna mentioned it but we would be looking at around 6k for all of us

Best one we had when the kids were still snotty was centre parcs. They (kids) didn't appreciate disney until about 6 yo. Before that it was just a day out where they see Mickey. Too short and too scared for any rides other than small world. It was great the first 24 times, but after that i started having big ticking clock nightmares.
