As above.
bananas for me anyway make a massive difference as the carbohydrates are slow release. If i dont have a couple of 'Nana's before hand i'm fecked after 40 minutes and my strength levels are crap.
Lads at work ask me how do i get so strong and i always joke well if its good enough for bananaman then its good enough for me.
Eat one at lunch then maybe another one around 45-60 minutes before your workout, oh and make sure your hydrated as you lose loads of energy if you get dehydrated.
Bananas all the way.

for energy that lasts you need to have a good intake of complex carbs(carbs that aren't sugar based), this includes foods like potatoes and oats.If this doesn't interest you, there are complex carbs which can be bought and heres one that i have. Maltodextrin is its name and energy is its game. Heres a link to where to get it BulkPowders.co.uk : Bodybuilding, Sports and Nutritional Supplements

Second flapjack.
Get a good quick lift from the sugar and helps sustain you due to the oats. I cycle a fair bit and it always keeps me going.
If you fancy some rocket fuel buy some energy gel (about £1 for a pack). Makes me go nuts for about 10 mins.

A combination of slow and fast release energy. Pasta, Rice, Oats, Nuts, etc for the slow burn. Sugary snacks like mars bar for the fast burn and keep drinking plenty of water!
Sounds like you need to get out and run a bit more and improve on your basic cardio fitness though. Stuff like fartlek, hill climb reps, interval training will all help build your fitness and stamina so you may last a touch longer than 30 minutes

SiS (Science in Sport) Limited GO-Gel isotonic energy gel
Theres loads of different makes, but it all tastes like a load of gooey flavoured sugar.
What SJ_Skyline says is good, although i find i also need to take some protein too otherwise my energy levels drop.
If im doing a big cycle i'll have pasta and chicken for dinner the day before, eggs on toast for breakfast, then something like cheese, ham, and jam sandwiches for lunch (Dont knock till youve tried it). Also tend to have flapjack throughout the cycle. I also drink about 3 ltrs of water on a 6-7hr cycle (depending on the weather).
Im not sure if thats whats best for others but it works for me and stops me getting knackered and cramps etc.
