Unfortunately there are lots of these 'cures' around. The first one isn't really even in testing stages and the second one is purely having a go at the pharmaceutical companies.

My wife is into alternative medicine and the amount of 'rubbish' (in my opinion) that is touted to desperate people to cure cancer is astounding.

The "if we can isolate this to destroy cancer cells and not healthy cells..." bit is very easy to say, but quite difficult to do - I mean Radiotherapy and chemotherapy do the same thing, destroy cancer cells, but they destroy healthy cells too - Thats the problem with both treatments.

Its like me saying "if we can invent teleportation the fuel crisis will be over"....

"Hopes" are all well and good, but when they are years away it does not make people suffering from, and related to those suffering from cancer, feel too good.

Read something the other day about a guy in America who sells a mild cyanide type pill that contains something found in apricot seeds and he claims it cures cancer. His website has testimonies from hundreds of people who say they are better.

The FDA is trying to close him down as apparently its classed as a drug and hasn't been tested. A lot of people in the US think its because it can't be patented being a natural remedy and therefore can't be taxed, plus it takes billions away from the accepted cancer practices.

Interesting times.

It is the medical profession that spear head research. I can guarantee you that if there was some magical cure that was so incredibly simple every post doc and medical researcher would have discovered it.
