Being an 80's child, I never had the privilidge of owning a record player
However:
First Tape: Born in the USA - Burce Springsteen (or maybe Making Movies - Dire Starits) Christ
First CD of my own: Metallica - Metallica (although first CD in the house was Michael Jackson - Bad, but I didn't buy it).
First MP3: Tricky this; legal or p2p'd? May have been Sneaker pimps, or Zero 7.

Great difficulty in remembering - or perhaps it's just selective memory because I'm cringing at the thought of telling you what my first cassette was (I too was a child of the 80s! )
First Cassette: Doop by Doop *vom*
First CD: Oasis - Defnitely Maybe
First MP3: I think it was Al Green - Lets Stay Together

Cassette - ACDC Back in Black
Record - Let's get it up (Single) ACDC
CD - Probably Angel Dust by Faith no More, but possibly a replacement for an LP before that, Marillion's Fugazi maybe.
MP3 - I don't buy MP3s

Record: Blondie - Atomic
CD: Fleetwood Mac - Rumours or Robert Cray - Bad Influence
MP3: Something I ripped from one of my own CDs. Which is apparently unusual.... In that I owned it first. :-P Can't recall what, Possibly something by Sheryl Crow.

First record - Top of the Tots party Vol. 5 (with Song Sung Blue, Leader of the Gang, Monster Mash etc...)
First single - (bought by me) Walking on the Moon - Police
First CD - Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me
First cassette - Top 40 recorded with the microphone propped up against the telly speaker, on one of those mono tape recorders. ( We had Redifusion tv and it had Radio 1,2 3 & 4)
