Example - Joey Barton, Got 6 months, admitted the offence and is likely to be released next week - he will have served six weeks, not months for assault on a teenager!
Listening to the radfio last night, even if a scumbag does not behave in jail they are still likely to get parole. What incentive to do so and what message does it send out...
When a scumbag goes though court system they can plead guilty right up until the last minute, ther victims and police wuill have stilll had to attend court anf give evidence, wasting police time and stressing the victims and witnesses.
Pleading, even at a late stage will likely take a 3rd off of the sentence and saved nothing in time, heartache and costs.
Why is this? - the explaination was full jails for the last 10 years - ffs wake up NL, build the prisons and stop letting offenders out early for no other reason that the cells are full.

tut tut Paul, these people are VICTIMS of society. The rich have taken all the money so its perfectably understandable that they lash out against society. Nothing will will served by sending him to prison, he will just become institutionalised and we all know prisons are universities of crime. Giving him a prison sentence is counter productive. What he needs is support and attention, a decent place to live, councilling to see the error of his ways, job training and help. Only then can he realise his potential, and become a valued member of society.
