Looks like the cars been setup to a tee as well; With corvettes, the other mains ingredients are there: Light and powerful. So add a sh*t hot driver and sort the handling and your on to a winner.
People knock pushrod V8s but it just shows that you don't need 4 cams and 32valves variable valve timing or lift and multiple length inlet tracts to achieve high performance
I thought the LS7 was a work of art in simplicity combined with modern metallurgy - you could not get a better engine in such a compact, simple and light package. Aftermarket tuners have been using forced induction on stock LS engines for years with huge gains from bolt-on modifications, so its about time GM got in on the act with creating their own supercharged engine: The LS9.
Still won't make me buy a Corvette though. Even if I'm slightly tempted.

That guy was on the ragged edge at times! Looked like airbourne entry to flugplatz, bottomed out in fuchsrohe (and hairy on the exit), almost ran out of braking into weirseifen, dodgy pflantsgarten, and all over the schikane. Good time though!

Check this out. Garage419 put both videos side-by-side. That's awesome.

164mph into that section??? It got very twitchy on the next corner!
Great video, brave and talented man! So much for US cars not being able to take corners!

Critically, the Vette has RWD and no supercomputer to control traction, the diffs, AYC etc. etc..! It's the yanks demonstrating that big power and big mechanical grip together with a driver with big ***** can mix it with the best that the more technical Japanese have to offer.
Oh yeah, and that the Vette can be made to corner!
Of the two, the Vette is the one that separates the men from the boys IMHO

But the GTR in "stock" trim went faster than 911 GT2, that is lighter by about 200kg, had cup tyres and more power

I was there that weekend, they seemed to have a lot going on the GP while the TF was on.
You could hear the GP from inside the cabin on the NL!
noise testing? a myth
There was lots of talk about the vettes time but nothing concrete came out of it, still thats some cohones that chaps got in the trouser department

Like em or not, this was a big feather in the cap of the Vette!
TBH I know I'd be much quicker in the GTR (and quite possibly live longer) but given the choice I think I'd take the Vette. I just like em! At least now it's not so uncool!
Actually I'll take both!!

The fastest lap of the 'new' Nordshcleif was run by the late Stefan Bellof. He holds the official lap record too, but his hottest timed lap was 6':11.13" in a Porsche 956. Thats not a BtG time either, its a full lap!
