Thumbs down David Davis has just cost you and I

£250,000 to massage his own vanity and ego.

He is part of the Tory party - you know, the lot we are being asked to believe will NOT waste our taxes!!!

Because he stood up for something he believed in, small price to pay for freedom if you ask me.

None of the spineless weasels that comprise our current government would have the guts to do it.

Good for him

It backfired badly on him - didn't start any national debate at all. Made him look a bit naive, being out-manouvered so easily. Effectively ends his career.

Compared to what Labour have pissed away UK tax payers money on, this is nothing!

In fact, showing the labour leadership -and the party as a whole- as the spineless entity that they are for 250k is rather good value.

The legacy of TB and GB: The destruction of the labour party.

Bring on the next election!

you trolling clown. that's 10p per UK household. it's a small price to pay for principle. while some may have deemed it eccentric and wasteful, i think full marks to the guy for standing up and being counted about the current attempted destruction of habeus corpus - by your lot - despite security services advice that 42 days detention ain't necessary.

gordon brown claimed over £135,000 in expenses last year - and he was 365th in them list of expenses claimants. i'd be a little more concerned about wastage and fraud here to be honest.

I'm interested in where the figure of £250,000 came from? It's certainly FAR more than was reported on Yorkshire TV this morning.

And 23 candidates lost their deposits, so that goes straight back.

85k was the figure reported on the news, but as yet another nail in the new labia coffin, even 250k would be a bargin!!!

so that's 3p per household then - minus a further 23 deposits. about the cost of a fizzy cola bottle sweet.

why does this forum's resident labour troll insist on running in, farting noisily, then running out again? i think we should be told.

Infraction is not warranted. Also it only adds to his, PSLewis's, kudos/ego etc. Public spending is a valid discussion despite the perceived trolling nature of the OP.

sorry, my missshhtake too. we have c. 23m households so about a penny each for £250K - and around a third of a penny if the £80K figure is correct.

How does somebody banned by a spineless, socially challenged infractor carry on posting?

The whole system is useless and pathetic anyway, as is demonstrated if PS Lewis has a life time ban and still returns time and time again. What is the point?

The word troll is used as an excuse for anybody that can be alternative or thought provoking too.

Pissy is no more than a tease and should be treated as such. People should learn to disagree with him without getting annoyed and turning to childish thread ratings and infractions.

I shan't be holding my breath though.

Still doesn't justify the infraction. David Davis could and should have done things differently to make his point. All this did was satisfy a mans ego.

I will assume that all of the above who agree that the waste of £250,000 of taxpayers was somehow 'worth it' will not moan about any other waste of taxpayers money then??

Talk about spineless hypocrytical weasels! You should be AGREEING with me shouting out AGAINST waste!!

I am afraid you are totally wrong. Nothing to do with vanity. He is a man of principle and having seen what your hero's are laying down for our future he was prepared to sacrifice his shadow cabinet job to demonstrate against the present and future loss of civil liberties that are coming from this scurrilous bunch in control. It was revealing that they were too frightened to put up a candidate against him

If the technicolour chameleon had any sense at all he would back him fully and re-instate him to the shadow cabinet.

Incidentally did you notice that it cost £500,000 to hire that very expensive luxury jet to take Flash to Hokkaido and back? What was wrong with a normal airline seat?

Can't see the justification for that infraction though.

Les

It was a serious subject and it's a shame there wasn't the nationwide debate on the it. If you think 250k is a waste of public money, you must be quite happy with the state creeping into your everyday life more and more. The latest wheeze is powers to go through any laptops and Ipods at airport security check in to check for any illegal downloads etc.

How long before they'll be combing through your IP logs at somewhere like Virgin? They won't even have to sieze your computer for dodgy stuff.
