Default Help!!!

Any advice greatfully received, My father-in-law has just got a notice of a speeding offence!!
He was supposidly was caught doing 36 in a 30 zone, the problem being it was in Grimsby and he's never been there. His car is an 08 Peugeot and he's getting rather worried over it, thinks someone else must have got same number plate, cloned or copied. How does he prove it wasn't his car when someones been issued, maybe by mistake, with the same plate.

Thanks fella's
Mark

Call the cops to report it, get the reference number, then call the DVLA to tell them it's been cloned and quote them the reference number. Easy as that.

This happened to me once. I knew I couldn't have been where they said I was. Turned out there was one digit in the wrong place in the number plate.

lovinmescoob,

make sure that your father-in-law replies to the "notice" (saying he wasn't the driver - exact words/method depend on the form) in the required timescales, otherwise he may (will) get a s172 (regardless of whether it was him) which will be worse than the (alleged) speeding ticket!

See FightBack Forums for more info!

Good shout Boomer, a work acquaintance was a victim of this scam, it went on and on for him as the car kept the cloned plate on and everytime it got a parking or speediong ticket he would have to go through the motions

Can be a huge pain in the ****!!
