Sh*t Brown is in the middle east.........
..............poking his nose in.
Not that there are ANY problems in his own country that need anything doing
And apparently, he's promised £500M of OUR money to the Palestinians over the next few years.
Not that the Humber Bridge would benefit from an injection of cash
Who are we to complain? We only PAY his B@stard taxes that he wastes
Alcazar

I think the States have pledged $500M.
To be fair, I don't think Palestine are in a position to help us out financially. You could argue that we aren't in a position to help out palestine. But It's tricky when you are the 5th richest nation on the planet. Of course its all relative, we might have a huge GDP, but we are feeling the pinch.
However, £30M in the scheme of things is absolutely bugger all.

Yes Heathcliff is good a pledging away other peoples' money.
£100 Million here £30 Million there - we can afford it.
Meanwhile English people in this country are living in third world poverty and having to choose whether to eat or heat their home. Yet they are told that there is no money available to ease their suffering.
There are going to be riots on the streets of this country again soon because of this arrogant unelected idiot and his desperation to be seen on the 'world stage'

I know what you mean. However, I would rather have this trifling amount spent in the UK, say on children with cancer (for example) instead of them relying on charities to foot some of their bills.
A lot of the ME nations are cash rich and could go along way and do more to help out Palestine

Whoever our PM is they have to get involved in foreign affairs, and there is no more pressing issue that Israel / Palestine. Things that happen in that part of the world impact upon us all, either directly or indirectly.
As for the money, I very much doubt that this is 'new money' it's almost certainly part of the an existing budget that has been allocated or reallocated.

We have a GDP of nearly 3 trillion dollars.
We are pledgeing $60 million.
In other words, its like having £300 in your pocket putting 0.006pence in a collection tin
It staggers me that people complain about this sort of thing.

But Paul, its not as if this money is being taken directly out of the funds from cancer care.

BBC NEWS | Health | Charity props up NHS cancer care
The NHS relies heavily on charitable donations for the treatment and support of children and teenagers with cancer, research suggests.
Up to half of funding in NHS specialist cancer centres in England and Wales comes from charities, a team of health economists calculate.
Some oncologists said without charity support many services would not exist.
The funding level raises questions about the government's responsibility for cancer care, the researchers say.
Oh and i do hope Brown does a tour of some fighting hotspots - in one of our Army Landrovers as he belives they are good enough to protect our servicemen and women!

Get a grip will you, whilst i was in Dubai the UAE was raising a Billion for Palestine and well on the way!
The Red Crescent (Red Cross) is heavily involved and collecting in the ME on an ongoing basis - i know as i have donated myself whilst out there.
There is plenty of money in the ME and SSA to help!

Hasn't one of them just built a half-mile long indoor ski-slope with real snow somewhere in the desert which has daily temperatures of 50 degrees? I bet what THAT cost would keep those in Gaza for a year or so???
Why does it always have to be us?
TBH, I'm sick of seeing the state of this country outside the favoured few areas while Brown and his ilk keep on pouring money into other countries
He wants to try a few three day visits to Scunny, Hull, Tyneside, Teesside, the Welsh Valleys, the Yorkshire coalfield etc and see what sort of infrastructure we have, and how many jobs there are here.
And yes, I KNOW it doesn't compare with Gaza, but WE don't live in Gaza, yet we DO pay taxes!!

The ONLY way Palestine can be a viable state, is by developing it's economy, which is exactly what this money is being donated for (as I said before, this will not be new money anyway).
The record of most Middle East countries towards the Palestinian people is frankly lamentable, they may be 'cash rich' but most a fairly morally bankrupt!

Then why don't the fantastically cash rich middle eastern oil producing nations help out?
Hasn't one of them just built a half-mile long indoor ski-slope with real snow somewhere in the desert which has daily temperatures of 50 degrees? I bet what THAT cost would keep those in Gaza for a year or so???

Not to belittle the plight of some poeple over here, which is undoubatbly harsh, it does not compare at all to third world conditions. You do not having millions dying each year of starvation in the UK. You do not have millions dying of easily curable disease in the UK. You do not have people dying because of dirty water in the UK.

Yes, I have relatives there. So too in Ireland, Belgium, Australia and New Zealand. But compared to (Well there IS no comparison really) those "third worlders", even the poor live well. I can tell, you don't believe me, have you actually been to a third world country? Or are you just an armchair browser?

Read this:
The Frugal Life: Heat or Eat?
Then realise that it was broadcast _before_ the huge inflation in food prices and the 60% increases in utility bills expected by the end of the year.
There are going to be people starving or freezing to death this winter in NuLabor's Britain.
Now tell me there is 'no third world poverty' in this country. None so blind as those who cannot see. This is where £30 million needs spending. Let the arabs take care of their own from the Billions they make out of selling us oil.

Shouldn't we be doing both?
