I've got a Nokia CK-7W handsfree kit in my car that was in it when I bought it. It was working fine but has recently packed up in as much as the mic seems to have stopped working. I can hear the other caller fine but they can't hear me. It's all wired under the roof lining and dash etc so not something that seems easy to troubleshoot.
Is there anything that can be tried in terms of resetting it or seeing if it's the mic without ripping the whole thing out to get to it?
Was really impressed with it when I got the car so would like to get it working again but not if it involves throwing lots of cash at it to remove all the linings/dash etc.

its possible the mic has become disconnected from the control box. The only way to check is to locate the control box and check all the connections.
Locating the module should be fairly easy, typical installation locations are behind the glovebox or behind the centre console.
I too have a CK-7W, but because I installed it myself I know where the box is.

The control box is quiet small. When a work colleagues one stopped working in his Toyota Avensis I found the module mounted up behind the glovebox. I put mine in the centre console.
The module is about an inch thick, and will have a row of connections on one edge, one is an RJ45 connection for the bluetooth button, then there will be the power block, the audio and mic.

And that is why I don't do mechanics and touch cars, I remove the glove box to find some muppet has been there before me and cracked all the screw holes on the dash so was an effort putting it back on and there was not a control box behind it either.
I guess it's behind the centre console as the cradle's attached wire disappears down the side of the in built stereo unit. There is no chance of me getting behind there to have a look.

usually first choice is behind the stereo {centre console} I think that VW leave a space behind just for that reason, failing that and i know you have checked now would be behind the glove box.
I have had a few cars with car kits and ck1 w or ck7 w kits and mostly they were put there.

I seem to remember getting my Passat units out really easily a few years back.

i fitted a snoy ericsson kit in my mrs g's meriva (same kit as in my daily driver) a couple of weeks ago. on hers though, i have wired the head unit as the speakers and fitted the mic in the same place as mine...and i taped over all the connections on the box as i know they can come out - when you do find the box, tape over all the plugs for safety!
you may find that the mic cable is just tucked into the head lining/windscreen joints and then taped behind the a pillar covers rather than being more "covertly" fitted (that's how it's fitted in my bugeye)
