Batman, The Dark Night
Probably SIAL (Superhero in a Leotard) by now but was over near the Trafford centre with a couple of spare hours and decide to see a film.
Anyway, don't normally like Batman, Superhero's and usually actively avoid them, but most stuff at the moment its kids films so to avoid as many kids as possible and not look like Gary Glitter on an afternoon out I went to see this.
Fantastic. 2 and a half hours went in no time, loads of action, good plot and decent acting, real shame about Heath Ledger as he made a fantastic Joker, really really insane and demented, and coming from me, who has met J4ckos mate, that is high praise indeed.

I just saw this last night. Couldn't believe how busy cinema still was...anyway, film was awesome. Looking forward to the dvd. Fave film of the last 12 months for me.
And also echo sentiments about Heath Ledger. He rocked and shame that we won't get to see him portray the Joker again!

Loved this film too.Saw it at the IMAX cinema in Birmingham as the film had some major scenes shot with IMAX cameras.
Absolutely mind-blowing.Was a bit worried about that Gyllenhaal woman as a the love interest between the two characters.
I thought she was rats

I too thought the Dark Knight was awesome. I really like the new line of Batman films. A lot more grown up and 'dark' in their presentation.
It's just a complete and utter shame that Heath Ledger is no longer around as no doubt there will be a third installment within the next couple of years.
The only other actor who think has the mantle to take over as the Joker is Johnny Depp. He really gets into roles he plays and would be a good choice to carry on the role.

Just got back from watching it in the Gallery, totally enjoyable film, and well worth the money to go and see.
If you likes Begins, you will love it, if you didnt, you will more than likely hate it.
2 thumbs up

How many people here have high expectations from the forthcoming "Watchmen" film? I suspect that when Terry Gilliam pulled out of a previous attempt to commit the greatest ever graphic novel to film he knew that it couldn't be done with less than five hours running time.
I'm just re-reading the book at the moment and as usual I'm blown away by it.

Having said that, it's not a deal breaker for me - I thought it was very very good, and Ledgers performance as the joker was superb.
However, I've a feeling that the real superhero movie of the year is going to be HellBoy2

Joker was awesome, regardless of the fact that Heath Ledger popped it but his acting was perfect and protrayed the grimmace and dark phsychology of the joker - Christian Bale was being a bit ghey

Am I the only one that was so bored by this overly long film that I fell asleep?
It actually took me three attempts to see the whole film, falling asleep each time. Every time I thought the film was coming to an end, something else happens. The joker was straight out of the school of overacting.
I believed all the hype about this film until I saw it for myself. If Ledger hadn't died, it would have been just another Batman film. I reckon they're just using his death as a marketing exercise.

Scunnered, not usually my type of film, at all and Heath Ledgers death did not influence my opinion or desire to see it one iota (wasnt sure who he was playing anyway), I just had some time to kill and there was nothing else i fancied, straight me cannot see Mamma Mia without having a female to blame it on.
I was sceptical and did think, 2 1/2 hours of Batman, what am I doing but, for me, rather being, ok for a film of that type, it was just good, even against my normal types of films.
The time passed quickly as usually I get bored, the last Pirates of the Caribean being a case in point, way too long and dont get me started on Lord of the Rings.

The new Batman however is possibly the best comic adaptation to date. I saw it on opening night at Bradford IMAX and was blown away.

Great film, sorely missed katie holmes, really hope they can somehow squeeze her back into the film.
The joker was great, really messed up but also confusing at times.
