Except the link originates on the appcim.com home page which is clearly not Abbey.

Copying a webpage is hardly hard these days.

Apart from the obvious (it looks, smells, walks and quacks like a scam);we have ' These IP adress'. 'You must repeat this operation for the second IP adress if there is any'. ETC
It's about as clever as a big bag of stupid things

Exactly

People who use online banking facilities and yet don't check the URL...well, lets just say they shouldn't use on line banking facilities

Simple rules of email notifications.

DONT click on the links, simply log in directly your usual way, via your usual URL. Any notifications sent by email will generally be on your account once you log in. Bank, Ebay, Paypal etc....

And if you ARE going to click links, hover over them and check the URL first.

agreed. and how many people actually know their IP address? most home computer users who would fall for this type of scam don't even know what an IP address is (or do they )

I got this email too . . .

Didn't even realise I had an Abbey account!

Maybe a friendly Nigerian has opened an account for me and deposited $200,000,000 for me to help get his daughter out of the country?
