Default I94 US Green Card Waiver Form Help

Last year when I went to Canada we drove to New York for a long weekend but on the way back to Canada the green I94 visa waiver card was not taken out of my passport by customs.
I am going to the US in six weeks time and have been told that I may have problems with the green card still in my passport.
Would I be best to send it back to the Kentucky address with some proof that I am not still in the US or should I just take it with me and give it to the customs when my plane lands or just play dumb and hope for the best.
Any help gratefully accepted.

Call the US embassy in London:

Switchboard: [44] (0)20 7499-9000

Get it sorted before you go. You don't want to mess around with Homeland Security.

I don't think the embassy will help you. If you have any proof of leaving Canada (and the US) just take it with you.

Homeland security are okay, in all the times I've been there I've only had one psycho: Someone who was sweating profusely, was asking questions, answering them himself and then shouting at me for giving him abuse (I didn't say a word). He then suddenly stamped my passport and let me in. Very scary.

Immigration don`t log when you leave a country only when you enter it. Usually when you leave the U.S. as a visitor the check in girl takes the I-94w stub from your passport and then they are all passed on to the USCIS. When you re-enter the U.S you will probably be asked when you last entered and how long you stayed. Assuming that wasn`t too recently and not for over 90 days you should be ok.
