Does anyone use a cash and carry for shopping instead of a supermarket? I have a Bookers cash and carry near by and was wondering if it's worth going say once a month and stock up on beer, wine, washing powder etc. Are prices much better than my local supermarket?

Sometimes cheaper, sometimes not.
The catering and commercial stuff is cheaper; I.e the huge boxes of washing powder, gallon bottles of softener and sacks of dishwasher salt. However many do sell "domestic" stuff (i.e the ones in small boxes), which are not any cheaper than the supermarkets, somtimes more expensive.
Drinks; Iffy. If the supermarket has a special on a 24pack of lager, its sometimes cheaper than a crate fromthe cash and carry. Same with coke and other tinned soft drinks.
Since our local CC closed we use Makro instead - not fantastically cheap, so you do have to keep an eye out on the prices (as well as the VAT). We get the bulk stuff from there, then get the fresh food from the supermarket. Toiletries usually come from Wilkinsons (usually cheaper than C&C ).

Tend to get the basics from Costco, ie booze and bog roll![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Bulk buying is cheaper then supermarkets although supermarkets have some good deals on beers at times
