I watched the Olympics today and David Price was on.

Just watched MOTD and Gerrard was on.

I work with people from the run-down city of Liverpool - sorry....... City of Culture.

Why do they all say erm, erm, erm, between sentences? They all do.

I was renewing my passport there a couple of years ago and had to buy a sarnie and coffee in cafe and even the girl was erming it.

Making an unattractive accent even worse, apparently

most regions have little traits with there accents, like cockneys who say 'in it' at the end of every sentence

I do.

Liverpool is easier to get your last-minute passport from, though. London has a mile queue and not worth bothering with unless standing with filth is your idea of fun!

Plus, my brother lives there so made a night of it.

moneys is right, all accents do have their traits, but the word erm is used in every accent, its annoying whoever uses it excessively

You should thank your lucky stars that you are so superior then. Or do you have an "estuary" accent?

When did I say or hint at superiority?

Just a light-hearted post about something I've noticed! Not sure what my accent is as I'm originally from Leeds but have lived in various places over the last 18 years.

Cheers for the infaction, BTW. Sad person who can't take a bit of a jab lol

Fair enough, I was "pulling your wire" a bit too really. To be honest, I come from the London area originally and was thumped by my mother if there was any suspicion of the "glottal T" which is part of the Estuary accent which is loved by the BBC woman in charge of regional accents!

Mrs Leslie was born next to Headingley, but not on it! Her father used to play cricket there though.

I don't believe in infractions.

I've a mild northern accent, so I'm told.

Must try harder to erase any northerness, but I can kick being a tight ****

They're fine if used properly where someone's being nasty or REALLY offensive.

There's a few on here that are a bit touchy and in need of sense of humour perhaps.

It was a 0142 infraction, so maybe some punchy scouser who got offended after a few ales

Before I receive an infraction, I will mention that my girlfriend is a Scouser, although she lives in Wolverhampton and she has two degrees.

Out on Penistone Road then and up Halifax Road, by the sounds of it. Hillsborough is well out of the centre though, in the NW of the city.
