Default What's your car history? Post pics!

I have photo's of every car i've owned, so I'll put them up in order.

Would be good if everyone could do the same where possible.

Here we go -

First car: Absolutely loved this, and without a doubt the most fun, and best memories I have had(and ever will have) in a car.

Had that 7 months then -
Second car: another one that gave me so many good times. Was left to me by my Gran when she gave up driving. Only 13000 miles on the clock when she gave it to me.

Had that about 5 months then -
Third car: Took money out of savings that I had and insured this...third party, fire and theft. (had to use saving as I hadnt sold the corsa just yet)

Absolutely loved that civic, but only had it 6 days before I wrote it off . One of the low points of my life - with it being 3rd party insured and me losing all the money I spent on it!

Anyway, got the corsa sold and bought another civic...same kind of age, but not as modified. Was another amazing car: loads of great memories again, and it lasted longer than 6 days. Notice Wheels from the green one were put on this, as they werent badly damaged in the crash.

Kept that civic for about 10 months, then wanted to go faster . So I got this 1.6Vti, which at the time I thought was a serious performance car .

Absolutely hated that: It had been badly modified...rear suspension was totally different setup from the front and the handling was terrible - totally unstable even in a straight line.

So I thought it was time to get a sensible car that was still good to drive, but that would also be a nice car to be in, and be comfy etc. So I bought this Focus with handling in mind - Knowing they were perfection as far as chassis were concerned.

That was a 1.8 3 door zetec collection, limited edition with a factory bodykit and alloys etc. Got it with 40k on the clock.

Focus' are fantastic cars for the road, and I had mine for well over a year with loads of good memories again.

Have been brought up around quick cars though, and always wanted a performance car for the road, so I decided it had to be either an Integra Type R(again great handling FWD car, and absolutely bulletproof), or a UK turbo Impreza.

Well I found out a guy I have known since primary school was selling his Terzo, so I went and had a look at it, and just decided to go for it. It was really well looked after before he had it - loads of receipts and full service history as you would expect.

So that's me up to date.

So post up your previous cars so I can have a nose at them

Alan

1 Austin Maestro £230 to insure for the 1st year, got my 1st accident out of the way without claiming, and thankfully there are no pics in existence.

2 Ford Sierra Sapphire - Again, sorry no pics AFAIK Debadged, detango'd with Cosworth grille and alloys (just enough to make it look good without it being another sad replica wannabee), lowered on Bilstein/Monroe suspension which made it corner amazingly. Being a 1.8 I had to be creative about not losing the speed I had tried hard to achieve, which looking back may be where my passion for high speed cornering and development of my driving technique began.

3. VW Corrado 1.8 16V

Between the g/f and I we owned this for over 13 years Brilliant handling for an 80's FWD car and average performance, but beautiful to behold.

4. Subaru Impreza WRX PPP MY03

The best car I have owned to date, and for the foreseeable future. I can't justify toys of that expense right now, but with the suspension and chassis mods I did that car was devastating on A/B roads at speeds which many would consider reckless and could easily have seen me jailed, and yet from inside it was calm, confident and serene, never seeming in the remotest bit dangerous. A real treat for an enthusiastic driver. I miss it terribly

5 Skoda Fabia vRS

A bit of a step down, but an amazing car for what it is. Surprisingly quick in the mid-range with reasonably good handling and superb economy. I used this black one for driving instruction for about 8 months and lost £200 on her when I sold her to buy the missuse a bigger car (Octavia) when the baby was due. I wish I'd kept it as I adopted her silver one which although had lower miles and a slightly longer warranty, wasn't anywhere near as nice to drive or look at

6 Skoda Fabia vRS

Never liked this as much as my black one above, so I've made it more interesting with 180bhp and 312 torques and some suspension tweeks. Timed with a GPS Racelogic Driftbox doing 30-70 in just 6.1s it is a nippy little bu99er, but is desperate for some new console bushes and other bits to tighten up the front end.

7 Who knows ???? But probably another Fabia I vRS to get the most out of the mods which I'll transfer over before swapping. After that, if Skoda don't do a decent job of the new Mk.II vRS I may get a Mini Cooper D for teaching. I'd love an Atom for fun, but that's a long way off

And because I am now 'responsible' and don't want to spend £40K on a car, a Focus ST3...

What a great selection of cars here...car enthusiasts indeed!

I thought this would be an interesting thread so cheers for taking the time to look out photo's etc.

Boro - Honestly the EG6 was the biggest mistake I have made when buying a used car. Even though it does 'look' great , and it had a cracking private plate: K58 BHP, with the car meant to have 158bhp from the factory. It was an absolute dog to drive, it had an oil leak...when you looked at it from behind it looked twisted, so probably crashed and repaired badly. Holes in the boot...I could go on. I just didnt think that one through at all .

I do like the Civic Jordans, but they seem so overpriced for what you get(basically an EK Vti with leather etc).

Salsa-King - I Got the Renault Clio in December 2004, right after I passed my test(was 17).

Boxst - I would have a Focus RS in a flash...what are they like?

Unfortunately I've not got any pics 'cos I've changed computer and all my pics are on a disc somewhere

1987 Vauxhall Chevette 1.3GL
1988 Escort Estate 1.3L
1989 Escort van 1.8d
1991 Fiesta 1.4LX
1991 Peugeot 205 Style
1992 Fiesta 1.1LX
1992 Fiesta 1.4LX
1994 Escort 1.6 LX 16V
1996 Rover 214SLi
1998 Peugeot 106 Quiksilver
2000 Peugeot 106 GTi
2001 Impreza Turbo
2003 Honda CTR
2005 Focus RS
2006 L200 Animal

Also, since 1994, I've had 2 Escort 1.8D vans, a VW Caddy van and 2 Transit Connects.

Looking at that lot, it's no wonder I lost a small fortune in depreciation.

Will find some pics later, but here is a potted history. There are one or two others ostensibly belonging to the wife in there but you don't want to hear about Rovers and Polos

1987 - Mk 1 Golf GTI 1.8 - nicked and trashed after 3 months of ownership
1987 - Citroen 2CV - no one nicked it so ... result
1988 - Mk 1 Golf GTI 1.8 Campaign in gleaming black - loved it
1990 - Ford Escort Mk II 1.6 Sport - had to own one of these
1990 - Toyota Corolla GTI-16 - nice reliable car but red
1991 - Toyota Corolla GTI-16 - nice reliable car in black - 5 years trouble free motoring for £3000 depreciation
1996 - Subaru Impreza UK Turbo 2000 Wagon in green - good but wagons aren't my thing
1999 - Subaru Impreza UK Turbo 2000 Saloon in silver - brilliant brilliant car
2000 - Lotus Elise S1 - a truly great car - it died (luckily I didn't) when hit by drunk driver
2000 - Subaru Impreza UK Turbo 2000 Saloon in silver - another brilliant car (at this time had two Scoobs and the Elise - what was I thinking - well the wife wanted one too )
2002 - Honda Integra Type R DC2 - absolutely wonderful car - should never have sold it
2003 - UK Impreza STI - least reliable car I have ever owned, kept thinking it couldn't get worse but it did, the less said the better
2006 - Porsche Boxster S (the wife's really) - not the car I thought it would be sadly!
2007 - Honda S2000 - fantastic car and better than the Porsche regardless of what you will read elsewhere
2008 - Honda Civic Type R - breadvan - whizz, pop, bang - love it for what it is
2008 - Subaru Impreza UK Turbo 2000 - 8 years old and my project car

Here we go then....

1st

(not actual car)
What an absolute heap, but it was cheap and got me about.

2nd

What a car (2.0 Ghia), took every single piece of abuse I could throw at it and just kept going, even got smacked up the rear without a mark to it.

3rd

(not actual car)
Mk1 1.1L sport, had more holes in it than I dont know what, bought as a project to fix up.

4th

(not actual car)
Mk1 990cc base model bought to help with above project. Ended up putting most things from the white one into this, but had to give up my garage and had to give both cars away.

5th

(not actual car)
2.0i Ghia, this one was a complete pile of poo, only had it for a couple of months, then scrapped it due to excessive work needed for mot.

6th

1.9 GTi, had it for 3 months before getting it rebuilt with 160bhp engine, new clutch, exhaust, the most awesome brakes Ive used in a car, full new suspension/poly bushes etc. Another 9 months later and it was part ex'd in for the car below (still miss it though..maybe have another one some day)

7th

Something a bit different to all the scoobies and cossies that were around at the time ('99), changed the actuator for more boost, Mongoose exhaust, 4 pot brakes, full audio install. All in all the car I miss the most.

8th

2.0 XSi (8v), didnt like it from the off, had it for 4 months and barely drove it.

9th

I was missing my previous Pulsar, so got another. This one had R33 Skyline front mount intercooler, bleed valve, mongoose exhaust, HKS coilovers, strutbraces front and rear, quickshift, paddle clutch.

10th

GTS Turbo, really nice drive, but plagued with relibility issues (maf, wiring corrosion, suspension strut leaked)

11th

Ermm...it served its purpose

12th

Now we're talking, only lasted 5 months before some old **** knocked me off. Bike was written off and converted to track use.

13th

The replacement for the above, awesome.

14th

Current car
1.9 TDi, reliable and ecomonical (even when towing a loaded trailed around)

15th

ZXR 400 race bike, tempremental, did one trackday on it before selling it.

16th

Current track bike.
2001 gsxr 600, modified suspension, brakes and gearing

17th

Current road bike
2005 R1 with modified exhausts

Blimey, that took me longer than I thought it would.

1 st car was a mk111 escort 1.6 ghia red and bog standard ( no pictures )
2 nd car was a mk11 orion 1.4 black (1.6 ghia lookalike )
3 rd car was a mk 1 astra 1.2 ( gte lookalike )

This was the only car i bought without somebody looking over it for me and it was a bag of sh@t . The floor needed welding as it was rotten and the respray it had been given could be blasted off if the car was jet washed.

I gave the car to my brother for nothing ( and not because i didnt like him, he had just written off his car and i had bought another one. )

4th car was a mk11 5 door golf gti big bumper model.

5th car was a bmw 318is

6th car was the mini cooper ( new shape with cooper s wheels )

7 th car was my bugeye wagon

8th car is my current version 2 555 sti ( summer / weekend toy )

9th car is my 2002 1.8 ford mondeo ( daily runabout so no pictures )

Yes I did. You're only young once . Don't really regret anything from that time, except maybe crashing the green civic. Although I would'nt be the same person I am now if that had'nt happened, so who knows. I've got plenty of good memories from 16-19. . Have become rather sensible in my old age though...

Also I don't have any debts whatsoever, all my cars, and the insurance for them has been paid for by me. Cars bought with cash, and insurance paid in a lump sum at the start of every year. Staying with the parents is great in some ways

only a 1.5, did what i could lol

then onto a punto, never let me down. 1.6 sporting.

Well...

1st car was a 1998 white Impreza Sport I had for when I passed my test. Bought it in Nov. 2005 and passed my driving test in March 2006. Then on May 16th (Monday morning), I wrote it off. This was 2 weeks after spending £1200 on 18" Speedline Turini/Toyo wheel/tyre package.

Only pics I had were at the scrappy where it was recovered too, plus I was only tp f&t insured

The same thursday, I went and bought a 95 silver WRX, which was dubious to say the least. That lasted from May until October 2006, until the engine started knocking. I sold it for pittance after spending a fair wad on decat exhaust, spoiler, reapirs after another crash I had etc. I did have loads of pics, but I disposed of them as I was totally gutted. Have this though.

Nexy up was the replacement for the WRX, a 96 Peugeot 106 deisel. It was the Escapade level 2 special edition with the gutless 1.5 n/a engine Easily the most powerless car ever owned by myself, but the most reliable I had too.
(Not actual pic as I never took any)

That lasted 7 weeks, until I went to my G.P. feeling a little down. I explained I was missed Scoobs and he said if financially viable go buy another one - you only live once

So in Dec 06 I bought my most recent Scoob. Spent a fortune on things like tyres, servicing, gearbox rebuild, exhausts, spoiler, suspension etc, but the car was how I wanted it.

Now when the gearbox went pop on Dec. 15th 2007, I bought this as a run around. Easily the worst most un-relaible car I will probably EVER own. I lost over £500 in 6 weeks of ownership

So owned that until some poor ba$stard on here took it away for pennies in late Feb 08 after the above Scoob returned with a fresh gearbox

Unfortunatley, due to work legal situation and severe financial difficulties as a result of this, I had to sell her in June. The price was desperatley low and right at the wrong time, but I was desperate.
The Scoob was then replaced with this...

It's loads of fun and everytime it breaks down, it adds to the character. Plus it's very cheap to fix in general and I got a load of spare's included.

Hopefully back into Scoob ownership in the next few years

Cheers Alan.

When i had the astra , two of my best mates had them as well. Each of us had a different colour so it was like the Italian job around the streets of Kincardine when were out and about

I wish i had another golf. I still have a look at them now and again.

Cruising about was so different back then, unless i'm looking back with rose tinted specs. When I was growing up my best pal's big brother had a couple of nova's, and all his mates had them as well, so it was similar to what you are talking about. He used to pull handbrake turns in Biggar high street, and it all seemed a bit of a laugh. Totally different to the way the "nannystate" has taken over now. Although as I said, I was really young at the time, so it might have just seemed that way. One of his novas was Fluorescent green/yellow actually, wish I had a photo now.

That's the reason I love old vauxhalls and fords etc. Plus my uncle always had the quickest cars of the day: quattros, cossies etc...it was great! A Sapphire Cosworth was the first car I drove actually...on his knee when I was about 4 .

Keep this thread going, it's great!

I used live on Biggar high street and remember that car. He was never away from the high street. Did his parents not own the carvan park or something? It must have been about 10 years ago.

Its a small world...

It was his mate's parents that owned the golf club/caravan park.

I lived in Biggar for just over two years from 1996 to 1998. My wife did her VT at the dental practice so we lived above it.
