Skipton, yesterday?
Anyone know what was going on in Skipton yesterday?
I was heading eastbound on the A59 when a few miles outside (just past East Marton) traffic ground to a halt (at the roundabout joining the A56).
I took a fantastic detour over Elslack Moor - what a lovely driving road, but would love to know what was causing the hold-up on the main A59?
Cheers,
mb

That's very close to where I live, in fact when I go to Skipton I often go over the tops despite it being a longer route, just for the views
I have no idea what was going on though, I didn't leave the house all day!

Some of the best drving roads up that part of the country, The B6160 from Addingham is one of my favorites all the way to Buckden then heading over to Hawes via Hubberholme road, simply fantastic!!!!

I didn't see anything when i came back on the Sunday (yesterday) lunchtime, so maybe it was a road accident?
The A56 was backed-up well past the Elslack Bridge turn-off, and loads of drivers were doing u-turns.
Luckily for me, the dozen or so cars that also took the "back road" turned left towards Carleton, leaving the rest of the moor free for me to enjoy

It was closed due to a landslide and they decided to resurface the whole road as well - all the traffic seemed to detour through Ilkley which is where i drive through twice a day
