Hi people, this may sound like a stupid question but how have you or would you pay for a 10k'ish car? Ie cash. bank transfer etc etc.
I would think cash, but a couple of people ive spoken to said bank transfer etc.
Thanks.

CHAPS, every time. I do all my business sale transactions via CHAPS, It costs a few bob (£30) but is guaranteed same day and is safe. I've had the odd occasion where the money has got lost in cyber space but generally it's good.

Thats quite funny, i didnt know what chaps was so i googled it and got;
'Coloured Horse and Pony Society'
'Tht Condom Reinforcement'
and a few others before i realised it must be the lloydtsb same day payment service.
I guess you have to be with lloyds though?
Do barclays do a same day?

If I'm selling then its cash on collection. Wife works for HBOS and tells me many horro stories about fake or stolen bankers drafts. And they CAN be cancelled (though didn't ask her under what circumstances)
If I'm buying then it depends where from . .
Last motor was £22k from a dealer and wife did a transfer direct to the dealer the day before I collected. Previous to that I bought an £18.5K car from a dealer with £1k on debit card, then £17.5K cash on collection (from my business, and it would have cost me to pay it into my business account so I used it for the car and paid a personal cheque into the business account)
Bro in law buying a new Fucus and he's paying with bankers draft when he collects.
When private its a private sale / purchase, its handy if both parties have a bank account in the vicinty. Both go to the buyers bank and let him do a transfer then go to the sellers bank and confirm funds received. Then no probs.
Sold a scooby for £15k cash once, took some time counting, but it made for an easier transaction.
