It's the last time it will ever be shown on tv/cable, apparently.
What a brilliant documetary. Made at a time when the veterans were still middle-aged, and able to give a memorable account of what happened (including the surviving Germans), and with the fantasic Laurence Olivier narrating.
Worth buying on DVD to show your kids, their kids, their kids, etc.
We'd be hard pressed as a nation now to have that spirit shown by those massively brave people of that time.

I was very young when this was first broadcast but even from a pre-school age I remember seeing this on the television (Sunday afternoons in 1974?).
For a 35yr old programme, its extremely hard hitting.

Yeah, seen it all the way through before. Fantastic series. Maybe the young Chav's of today should be forced to watch it. Make them realise what those old people they like to pick on, had to go through to make sure they don't now speak german.

As your original post, they stated that it was being played through for the last time over the bank holiday weekend. I think that there are two post war episodes: I watched the last one yesterday. I was surprised to see that they were back with the invasion of Belgium and the routing of the British Expeditionary Force in France again this evening.....
