Well i've been on short time for two months now and i'm getting worried now. all my buddies are on short time or are really quiet with only one mate who is pretty secure.

I've a horrible feeling its gonna get worse.

i know a few, even considering cutting back on my staffs hours a little to be honest, the carwash until last week, had not made me any money for 2 months made enough to pay the wages only

had a little nest egg put away for a rainy day, but its all gone now, tbh i think peoples knee jerk reaction to instantly stop spending any cash has started to give way, + the ****e weather seams to have left us for a while, noticed the figures starting to rise back up again as people on the street realise that while bread and stuff costs a bit more, they are not half as bad off as the papers made out :rolleyes"

besides we have a badddddass buy one get one free promotion starting next month

have a few mates in windows/home stuff, and its looking dam bleak for them

I was terminated 2 months ago as I apparently offended a Muslim - not him directly I might add.
The fact I had been working 18 hour days ( No overtime pay) for 10 consecutive days was of no consequence.
By the way I was the senior manager.

We are effectively in a recession, by definition most industries will be feeling the pinch as people stop spending money.

Hopefully all those that are finding it hard will be able to muddle though without too much hardship.

on a plus point, read in the paper that the nissan plant up here in sunderland is now running at full steam again with the launch of the new 7 seater car, and have took on extra staff to cope

3 rotating shifts running 6 days a week, new car popping out the end every 60secs

There is and will always be the exception, (a pal of mine makes turbos in Bradford and they have work for the next two years)

But i think a large percentage if not the majority will be feeling the pinch now and can see unemployment going up by a huge amount.

Lol, I haven't been at work since April 15th

Not through my own choice, but my stupid employers

for some reason they are booming currently (general warehouse and distribution services), but NOBODY in the scunny area will work for them, due to their reputation for treatment of staff

Seriously, they have been under staffed for over 2 years, and are trying to lure students in from other countries now to work for £80 a week on an NVQ apprenticeship. The polish won't even come work here, they would rather be round the corner at my Mrs workplace hearning half as much as I used too.

So if anyone wants a job where your constantly hassled to work upto 60 hours a week with 4 hours notice on enforced overtime, be encoraged to break H&S to meet targets, be forever looking over your shoulder for set up's by bored shift leaders etc, etc, PM me, I have exactly what your looking for.
