That's nothing, and it should do that with ease, as should any car other than Vectras that we use that fall apart before they hit 5k and spend more time being fixed than on the road.
Not getting a Vectra by any chance as your new motor?

Got rid of mine in December. A sad day (had a lump in my throat), but I'm not missing it now, (except maybe the exhaust when driving through tunnels - somehow a diesel bmw doesn't make quite the same noise).
p.s. I loved my sti, but despite it being fun it had to be by far the most expensive and unreliable car I've owned

Have not really cared since the day mine drove off the driveway.
I miss the new car feel of it, but other than that, it was only a car. Another will be along to replace it at some point im sure. Til then I have the faithful Mundano and Pikarshole!

Nothing mechanical has gone wrong with it despite the beating I give it, it's been silly electrical faults & stuff like inlet manifolds (twice), alternator (twice), fuse box, loads of headlight bulbs, leaking petrol pipe, bonnet that wouldn't open (twice), brake caliper seized, exhaust falling off (4-5 times under hard acceleration) etc that has gone wrong.
The oil consumption is also rather shocking too but that may be more to do with my running in procedure

Funny you should say that My company car is a 54 plate Vectra and although it's only done 71,000 miles it's spent pretty much as much time at the garage as it has with me

Yes, they take hammer from the drivers, but the bmws used to take that hammer and last about 5 yrs without really breaking other than the obvious stuff.
