Off to to NY on wednesday and I am interested in some slightly different to the usual things to do. I am there for four days for a family wedding and frankly spending that much time in close proximity to extended family may well bring out the Victor Meldrew in me.
I have been to the statue of liberty/empire state etc before so more interested in going places like Harlem Brooklyn Queens etc. I know all ready that my cousins will be competeing to spend the largest amount of cash in the most expensive places so I want to drag some of them to some crappy slightly edgy places so they end up squirming a little like I do when my round of 4 drinks costs a $150 plus tip.
Also the tipping thing can I get away with 10% or will they chase me up the street. I actually don't mind tipping in the UK but the attitude of a forced tip makes me want to leave quotes from Confucious on the bill instead of fiscal reward.

If the weather's nice maybe pay a visit to Coney Island which is in South Brooklyn. The beach reminded me a bit of Blackpool.
Then on the way back, maybe walk the Brooklyn Bridge back to Manhattan. We did that as the sun was setting and it was breath-taking.

get the staton island ferry from the bottom of Manhattan - it's 15 minutes, free and goes past the statue of liberty. it's also free to come back too ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

10% tip wont get you chased...unless its on a $500 tab. Aim for 15% TBH-20% is taking the **** and I refuse to tip that much.
I also can't stand it, but when in Rome....
Raining here today (p*ssing down would be more accurate actually) but will be v sunny the rest of the week...

I went on an evening tour of china town, think it may have been little italy, some nice village like area with lovely painted buildings and then into a party at some mad womans apartment that was just like the apartment in the film Ghost.
Canal Streets quite a good place to visit as well.
