I believe mine was 18/- in 1970

I remember that the test went up to 30/- on 1st January 1971 and my brother gave me this for my test. I booked it early though and made a profit

I think I paid about a tenner in '87 - That would be a complete guess.

Can't remember but petrol was around 5/-9d per gallon

And no speed cameras, no national limit, not many cars, no breathalyser, no seat belts IIRC.................

Oh and no motorways

Can't believe that price! Mine cost 5 shillings and cost nothing to convert to a full licence after I passed the test.

I am afraid that they did, but my dad got away with it, in fact he could have driven an HGV if he wanted.

Thanks for the polite comment anyway! but al least I enjoyed the days when there was no traffic worth speaking about! Only coppers in Wolesleys with a bell on the front bumper and a lit up badge on the radiator which you could see in the mirror at night while they were following you. The first four wheel drift I ever did was in my dad's Morris 8 series E, downhill and in the wet, dad was not in the car Great days.

I have the feeling mine was £15-17 in 1989, but can't be sure. Sounds about right if Pete's was £10 in 1987....
