Default Quick road tax question...

Anyone know the cost to tax an 04 WR1 from March next year (or whenever all the tax bands change) as my tax runs out tomorrow, and i just wondered if i only tax it for six months now, will i get stung for the new rate in six months time (whatever that will be £400?) so should i just tax it for twelve months now, to save some money!

Always worth taxing for 12 months unless you think your going to sell the car in that time. Car tax always goes up, never down, so you'll invariably be better off.

Question

I thought the sti/wr1's were all CO2 Emissions of 265g/Km

So that would make them tax band M which is £440 next year £455 year after

New car tax rates FROM 2009

Or have i got it wrong!!??

Sorry to hijack, but here goes. My tax is up for renewal 0n 31 Mar 09, so can I buy tax at the end of Feb 09, and pay for a year at £220, although I already have a month left?

According to the AA:
"The Treasury has said but not officially confirmed that cars emitting over 226g CO2/km but bought before Budget 2006 will move into Band K in 2009/10 - and will continue to benefit from a reduced rate, and only in 2010/11 will these cars be placed into the band that corresponds to the car's actual CO2 emissions. "

So a 2004 will have a reduced rate (£300) until 2010 whereupon it will be in the highest band paying £455 pa.

I thought that was now only for cars registered before 1973 or something?

I'd rather pay £30 a year than have a car that was nearly as old as me!

You must be taking it off the road then! Road tax exemption is only for cars registered before 1973.

With my unlucky streak, I'd tend to agree.
