Just got myself a new media PC with Blu-Ray and HDDVD all hooked up to my Plasma. So I want to start making the most of it.
Which of the online 'we send you out DVDs in the post' rental companies are the best?

I seem to remember most of them have been absorbed by lovefilm apart from blockbuster.
I was with one that was assimilated and left soon after but with a PS3 on the way, maybe time to sign back up...

Been with LoveFilm for ages, as mentioned they pretty much have the monopoly. Pretty good but you can find yourself waiting quite a long time to get the latest blockbusters.
Don't forget to look out for deals / cashback when signing up.

I will cut n paste my reply to this topic on another forum I use.....
I used to use this scheme through Tesco iirc.
Sound idea but completely ruined in practice due to inconsiderate spunk-rags.
When I put a dvd on, I open the packet, press the button thing in the middle to release the disc, hold the disc by the edges, drop it into the players tray, and thats that. removal is a simple reverse of this sequence.
However, it seems that the rest of the subscribers would open the packet with an axe, dip their hands in honey then sand, yank the disc off the holder, frizbee it across the living room, pick it up off the carpet, slam-dunk it into the dvd player, then when it fails to play due to excess jam/fingerprints/carpet fluff/cracks, they "clean" the disc by rubbing it along the pavement for a few meters.
I reckon about 80% of the discs I got wouldnt play unless I gave them a thorough clean and polish beforehand, and even after that, at least 40% were unplayable or would freeze half-way through.
Notable highlights include one of the Matrix films where the disc was bent into a pringle-shape, A disneyfilm that had a 2cm wedge missing from it, and I forget what it was, but the disc was shattered into 5 pieces.
WTF?
Seriously, W T F?
How can people be so chuffing careless with things? "Its not my disc, I dont give a damn" seems to be the attitude.
Yeah, I sent them back and got another one, but thats not the point.

I signed up waaaaaay back with VideoIsland, who were absorbed by Screenselect, who were absorbed by Lovefilm.
Turn around of discs has gotten slower over time, but the quality of what I receive (eg damaged/wrong discs) has gone up from immensly since the Screenselect era, and variety is much better than it was in the VI time.
