Car Mags Obsession with Fords
Why do mags like Auto Express obsess over Ford?
Every week they compare beemers, vauxhalls, audis, VW's etc up against the "same class" ford and surprise surprise the test winner is always the ford
Am I missing something??
We have a guy at work with a new Mondeo Tit X with all the bits, the interior lkooks and feels cheap, they engine is sluggish and noisy, they have blanking plate galore where extras go, you have to push and hold the cheap looking start button, until the thing kicks into life, in short it's crap!
What does everybody else think?

Apart from any Halo Performace models, Fords are better built than most. Ford have won praise for their Chassis tuning, and by and large are better cars than most people give them credit for.
For the same money you can have a well specced Mondeo for same price as a basic spec 3 series.
Nothing wrong with Fords apart from not giving the new RS 4WD.

I used to hate Fords but now really rate them. All handle well, all are well made - I very nearly got a Focus but they don't do a powerful enough soot chucker so I went for an Astra.
Unlike Ford who make most of their cars well (apart from the odd wierd model like the Fusion) , the Astra is the ONLY good Vauxhall - and very good it is too.
I'm sure mags don't rate a Mondeo over a 3 series unless they mean it. Plus it annoys BMW and Audi drivers. Which is funny.

Ginger - indeed it might be. I utterly hated Vauxhalls too then drove the mk5 Astra (having had an R32 Golf that was being regularly done over at HUGE expense) and bought one a month later. The VWs (Passat estate, A4 Avant, Bora) and Audis I tried were genuinely crap. Amazing how the mainstream brands have moved up.
If Ford bring out a fast diesel Focus, I'll order one.
