This is simply a real time warning of speed camera positions - just a quicker update compared with my weekly update from Pocket GPS.
The flaw is with this system is that the righteous upholders of the law will buy a load of these devices and drive around whilst constantly pressing the warning button, to make the system useless.

I suspect, due to the success of this in other countries, that there are safeguards in place to stop this happening.

paulc72 - a vain attempt at trolling.
If you can drive around attentively without looking at the speedo in cities then you're a saintly driver.

camera vans are only used in areas that present a danger to motorists. how can warning other motorists of potential danger be illegal?
But I can imagine do-gooders 'notifying' every time they enter a 30mph zone so the system would be very unreliable. In fact that is a good reason for the authorities to endorse and promote it. While it remains a bit edgy and underground it would actually be more useful

I had a similar idea to this about 12 months ago using mobile phones and texts. I hadnt really thought it through properly, maybe i should have and tweaked my idea a bit. Might have come up with something like this. Gutted.
I dont think do-gooders will invest in something like this just to create false positives and tbh, i dont think the general motoring public will either.
It relies too much on other road users to be effective IMO.

I'm not knocking the units as I'd have one. Its how the authorities may clamp down on a real time system when they allow systems that rely on slightly older camera data, but are essentially doing the same job.

It was a factual statement

It isn't that easy to stick to speed limits after all pushing the right foot down does take a hell of a lot of concentration, occasional glances at the speedo is an easy thing to do when driving.

If you cannot control your speed in a city or even anywhere else when driving then really I doubt you should be driving at all, it isn't that hard if you want to that is.
