Smacks a bit of reverse McCarthyism to be honest. Is it really right to hound people just because of their political beliefs?

What's shocking about It ??

There a political party and we live in a democracy so have the right to support/vote for which ever party you see fit.

as astraboy has said, its not until you start thinking about your search that you reveal the shocking bit. iirc its illegal for a police officer to be a member of the bnp. I stand to be corrected though...

Yes, I think you are right about the plod, though why it is illegal for coppers to be a member of a legal political party, yet it is not illegal to be a secretive Mason is beyond me.

yeah, nothing's consistent but a police officer who supports racist views, political or not, isn't really a good thing any which way

It's not illegal for a police officer to be a member of any political party, BNP included.

Can anyone here be arsed to normalise that data into one page for me?

I'd be moderately interested to have that info readily searchable.

So all these people are now probably going to be chastised because of their political views?

Rightly or wrongly I dont care, we are supposed to have choice to choose in this country, and the right to keep our political views private.

I am sure there will be people out there who see fit to misuse and abuse the names in this list. Is that right?

Of course not! no more than its right to print the labour or conservative lists and abuse there members.

Wrong! just wrong.

Although I think it's wrong the list was published it is however amusing to think of these racists sweating because their grubby little secret is in the public domain.
I daresay that the 'reds' will be preparing to pay a few night visits courtesy of the publishers.

My favourite quote is this one

" Anonymous said...

The reccession means many of us could lose our jobs, add this info to it and its a dead cert. I'm really upset, how could they do this?

18 November 2008 12:49"

Here's hoping- it would be nice to see some of the dirt out on the streets.

Absolutely The breach of data protection needs to be investigated by the police and those guilty need to be dealt with.
As for who is on the list - no news here...

well there are a lot of cllrs already in power- think there are 4 in Bfd now.

I live in Bradford and if you look at the votes polled/rec'd- you'd see in most wards, the BNP were a very close second or third.

They're not an "also ran " party really anymore.

local elections, not national BTW
