I'm a big Pioneer fan, in fact my whole setup is Pioneer. The LX01 looks like a fantastic bit of kit but I would be very wary of getting a DVD player now, especially that Blu Ray is now making its presence felt. There is the LX01BD that you could maybe go for??

Or have you considered going down the separates route??

I went with SV810-A speaker package, VSX-LX70 AV receiver and BDP-LX70A Blu Ray player.

Ta, not for me, pending redundancy tightens your purse strings Just tapping the SN knowledge pool!

Would it be worth getting do you reckon and then punt the DVR on ebay?

I would say no. You won't really get a lot for the DVR and then you're basically left with an expensive set of speakers. Pioneer do 5.1 speaker packages without a receiver/amp.

The amp in the sub will be driving the sub only, it is a dedicated setup. With all-in-one setup like the LX01, the media player (DVD, BD) and the amp are all in one unit.

So why would the sub/reciever have antenna in, hdmi in and out, analogue in, digital in and all the speaker connections?

Ah right, apologies. I made an assumption there based upon other systems I have seen without actually knowing the full spec of the LX01. Yeah, looking at that I see no reason why you could not ditch the PVR.

Thought so. I know a bloke has eyes on one but I've never seen them myself.
He has media centre and PS3 so absolutely no need for PVR/DVD but all these types of systems come with some form of source (which he doesn't need).

This is the first I'd seen where it looks like the source could be extracted from the set.

I'd love one of those Sonys with the golf ball speakers myself but they are one box with limited inputs the last time I looked so more a home cinema in a box than an amp/speaker bundle which is what's required here (without going separates as it becomes difficult to exercise self control!)

Cheers for the inputs.
