Default SKY + Fault

I ahve a fault on my sky + box. I cant pause rewind or access my "planner". It just comes up waiting, I suspect the hard drive is gooshed but there have been no signs until now. I havent called sky yet as its normally a waste of time. I powed the box off for about 5 hours but no joy. Any ideas ??? or is the harddrive f00ked ?

Just ring them, i've found them pretty helpful in the past.

Use saynoto0870.com to get the local number as well.

Or is it the LNB on the dish? I take it you can't hear the hard drive spin up when you power it on to say it is the HDD?

Its due to an download problem to your box the night before last .....

I take it you have changed your hard disc ???

You need to turn the power off from the wall and remove your viewing card.
Wait 30 secs or so and then power back up, once its powered back up, switch off and replace your sky card and then turn on.

Change the setting in the menu to over ride the sky box going in to sleep mode and leave the machine on ..... dont turn it off other wise you will have to go through it all again.

They are working on a fix for it, so im told

If that dosent work, in the order i have posted. Force an install
Power off from the wall and then when you power back up hold the back up button on the front of the machine, hold the button for 10 or 15 seconds

You will get a message on the screen saying it is doing an upgrade and taking about 10 mins

I have had a problem with the planner since Tuesday. If I try to sort my programs by A-Z it tells me there are no programs that match the criteria, then it tells me I have no programs in my planner. Yet they are all there. Weird !!

My Sky+ box flickers when it's playing something back that's bright on the left hand side of the screen (tested it on two TV's).
It's funking annoying and the box is out of warranty now

Try the old check, switch to standby, pull the mains plug out, wait a few seconds and plug it back in switch on, wait 3 minutes and see if its fixed.

I've tried everything, this box is a replacment for the first one they installed (recording functions never worked).
It was such a hassle getting the thing installed, I've avoided all further contact with Sky. I'm actually waiting for Humax with bring out their FreeSat+ HD recorder, then I'm binning sky completely.

It's bloody doing it again! Just went to watch something and I've got all the channels, but no access to the planner. It just says 'Please Wait'.

I can't remember, but I'm 90% certain it's RGB (whatever it's set to it looks better than the other setting).
Will try the other one tonight, see if it makes a difference.

While we wait for an update you cant turn your sky box to standby. It needs to be left on.

I turn it to channel 0101 (radio station) this way the hard drive is not spinning or recording like it would be on a TV station.
